The Oysterlicious Group (that runs restaurants including Botanik, C Pearl and Osteria, all focused on using top-quality imported shellfish and locally grown and foraged ingredients) has teamed up with an organisation that funds education for girls in rural China. Each month during 2019, the restaurant group is picking one oyster variety and one bottle of wine as part of its Sip & Slurp for Education fundraiser, and for every customer who orders up, it’ll give 10RMB and 100RMB respectively to the charity.

The goal is that by the end of the year, Oysterlicious will have raised 1 million RMB, which is enough to fund a full three-year high school education for 55 girls from under-resourced areas of the country like Gansu, Qinghai and Guizhou Provinces. As of mid-February, the group had already raised more than 63,000RMB for the fundraiser.

To contribute yourself – and to down some excellent oysters along the way – stop into its three participating Shanghai restaurants: The Plump Oyster, Osteria and C Pearl in Pudong. For more info, add Osteria on WeChat (ID: 'osteriaoyster').
