Tickets for Shanghai's annual international lit fest now on sale

The annual Shanghai International Literary Festival – nearly two weeks packed full of panels, workshops and live events – is back this March and tickets go on sale today (Thu 28). For nearly two decades, the fest has welcomed over 1,000 emerging and established international and local writers, journalists and historians, and this year the event lineup is looking as strong as ever.

The whole thing is going down at M on the Bund between Thursday 14 and Wednesday 27 March, and will feature a diverse range of topics which this year includes everything from what’s fuelling the country’s sci-fi boom (Hao Jingfang, Mar 23), to early 20th century expeditions to the North and South Poles (Edward Larson, Mar 24), to China’s rapidly changing societal norms (Karoline Kan, Mar 26).
More standout guests on this year’s bill include author and journalist Michael Brooks (Mar 16), who helps science make sense to the masses, emerging Thai author Veeraporn Nitiprapha (Mar 25), whose 2015 novel The Blind Earthworm in the Labyrinth won the Southeast Asian Writers Award, and Australian poet Zohab Zee Khan (Mar 22), whose poetry tackles race, class, gender and developing creativity and, really, so much more, so take a look at the full lineup below.
