10 great things to do this weekend in Shanghai

Friday is finally here, party people. This weekend brings us a handful of excellent nightlife events: get your last glimpse the Minimalist boys before the crew parts ways to different lands, boogie down at Shanghai Secret Disco and dance and skate the night away at the ShanghaiPRIDE Pink Party. For a bit of downtime, check out SCoP's latest exhibition that takes a look at the meaning of love, browse the Jingan Craft and Farmers' Market and catch the new Men in Black film.


Linwards Afro Yoga

Learn different types of African dance in Linwards' Afro Dance and Yoga Balance combo class this Sunday. The class is open to all regardless of dance or yoga experience. Bring your own mat.

Jingan Craft & Farmers Market

Expect over 30 vendors with food, drinks, crafts, design and fresh local and handmade products. There will also be a activities for kids, live music and an adoption area with animals looking for forever homes.

Minimalist The Final Chapter: Jozef K & Jigsaw

After over nine years of parties at DADA the Minimalist boys throw one last party before the crew parts ways to different lands. For the final party they bring in international guests Jozef K (Acid Test, Fire house, UK) and Jigsaw (Gottwood, Rinse FM, UK) plus a host of local DJs including Donn, Siesta, Matyla, Nmlss, Don Jaly and resident Will A.

ShanghaiPRIDE Pink Party

RIINK is the official site of this year's ShanghaiPRIDE afterparty. The dress code's compulsory: wear something – anything – pink. Expect low lights, evening raffles and some unknown surprises. Special Guests DJ Michelle and DJ Iku Iku will be curating a classic queer tracklist all night long.

I Mean Us 2019 EYE Tour

I Mean Us is a shoegaze band formed in Taipei in 2015. Its DNA combines sounds of 1990s analog with psychedelic instrumentals and seesawing male-female vocals.

Alter. Rooftop Party ft Esa (Dekmantel)

Alter. presents another Sunday party featuring London-based Esa at POP's rooftop. A regular at many of the best underground parties, venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, Esa has carved out a niche curating electronic music-focused educational programmes in Cuba, Brazil, East and South Africa.

Shanghai Secret Disco

Shanghai Secret Disco is taking over a boutique on Dingxi Lu for one special night this Saturday. It's bringing in a shitload of fancy-dressed guests, groove-heavy DJs (ALEPA¥), KOUGAR and Funkmaster C, a Polaroid photo booth and sparkling lights to turn the place into a two-storey disco dreamland.

Men in Black: International

The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, the story follows Agent M (Tessa Thompson) and Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) as they tackle their biggest, most global threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organisation.

Summer of Love

Through the lenses of four photographers, the Shanghai Center of Photography's latest attempts to map out how love has been celebrated differently over the past four decades, from discreet expressions of love captured by Liu Heung Shing to the material aspects of love in the wedding industry by Olivia Martin-McGuire.
