Dodu is closing and being replaced by a ‘mezcal bistro’

Bid your adieus to Dodu, the French rotisserie that’s had a home on Changshu Lu for the past four and a half years. The store has announced its ending operations in two weeks, with the last birds being roasted on Saturday 8 August.
Aside from slinging those juicy free-range chickens, DODU also had a handy happy hour and a pretty decent lunch deal to go with. But while there’s much to be missed, there’s also more to look forward to, with owner Hugo de Mondragon planning on turning the space into an entirely new concept.
It involves mezcal – something Mondragon’s already familiar with having opened Espiritu, a bar dedicated to the agave, on Yongjia Lu last year. Of what to expect, he says, ‘It will be a Mexican mezcal bistro. Great cocktails, mezcals and creative sharing-style food that’s affordable in a newly designed environment.’
As a final farewell, the team will be doling out free Dodu plates and appetisers to go with an all-day happy hour, on the last day. If you can’t make the grand finale, don’t worry, you can also say your goodbyes with one hour of free-flow wines for 98RMB, available every day from now until Friday 7 August.
