这个被好多人批评的错误就出在丘吉尔的那句名言上。

"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat." 

“我所能奉献的，只有热血、辛劳、眼泪与汗水。”

盆友们应该发现了，英镑上面印的这句话，没有用双引号，也没有句号。

The Bank has been accused of “dumbing down”  after choosing to remove punctuations（标点符号） from a quote by Sir Winston Churchill printed on its new £5 notes. 

据报道，在早前发布的一个版本上，是有双引号的。但是……

However, it has emerged that it quietly dropped them from the final design. 

最终版本没有加双引号和句号这件事儿，让很多人不开森。

有人解释说正确做法是这样的：

"If you are referencing a quotation word-for-word, use double quotation marks at the start and end of the quoted section. Place full stops and commas inside the quotation marks for a complete quoted sentence."

这件事儿在英国国内引发了热烈的讨论。
