Jump on the bandwagon

Definition: Join a growing movement in support of someone or something, often in an opportunist way, when that movement is seen to have become successful.

Origin: The word bandwagon was coined in the USA in the mid 19th century, simply as the name for the wagon that carried a circus band. In the late 19th century, politicians picked up on this form of attracting a crowd and began using bandwagons when campaigning for office.

Jump on the bandwagon

A

Just because everybody else's children are learning piano, you want our kids to learn it. Can't you see they are good at soccer. Don't jump on the bandwagon.

B

When he was young, my uncle jumped on the bandwagon and came to Beijing from Shanghai to meet the leader.

C

I know I'm jumping on the bandwagon here, but I really enjoy rap music.
