"Domestic situation" involved in Texas church shooting

Officials say Texas church gunman Devin Patrick Kelley was armed with three guns and had argued with his mother-in-law before the rampage.

The attack on the small church outside San Antonio during Sunday services left 26 people dead and 20 injured.

Freeman Martin, the regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says it appeared that Kelley died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after first being shot by an armed bystander.

US officials said he was not legally permitted to own the weapons, including a semi-automatic rifle and two pistols.

Officials have not yet identified the victims in the small town of Sutherland Springs.

Ten of the injured victims remained in critical condition.

Ostrem didn't enter a plea. He's being held without bail.

Prosecutors haven't said whether they'll seek Ostrem's execution.

The judge scheduled a preliminary hearing for February 5 where prosecutors will lay out their case and the judge will decide if the evidence is sufficient for a trial.
