罗伯特·彭斯(Robert Burns,1759年—1796年)是苏格兰最伟大的诗人,19世纪英国浪漫主义诗歌的先驱。他的半身像曾被印上钞票:
钞票的反面印有鼠和玫瑰花,都是彭斯名作的主题。他曾写下名篇 A Red, Red Rose;《哀鼠》(To a Mouse)则是因某次犁田毁了鼠窝,野鼠仓皇而逃,诗人为表歉意而作的。
彭斯生于苏格兰农民家庭,诗歌来自真实的农民生活,抒写普通人的内心感受,被当时的人们誉为“自然的天才”。
他的这首《约翰·安德森》质朴而又深情,让小编想起了林忆莲的一首老歌:
