China to promote building a community of shared future for the world: Xi


The Chinese President has said that Chinese diplomacy in the new era aims to promote the construction of a new type of international relations and a community of shared future.


Xi Jinping made the remarks when meeting with foreign delegates to the 2017 Imperial Springs International Forum.


Former world leaders, renowned scholars and business elites have gathered in Beijing to exchange their views on global governance.


During the meeting, Xi Jinping said a new type of international relations would require countries to uphold mutual respect, fairness and justice, as well as win-win cooperation.


Xi Jinping says the development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the choice of history and of the people.


CPC to promote transparency in party affairs


The Communist Party of China has adopted a regulation to promote transparency in party affairs.


An official statement describes the move as a must to developing intra-party democracy and socialist democratic politics.


It stresses the significance of the move in advancing strict party governance and strengthening intra-party supervision.


The document also suggests efforts should be made to protect party members' rights to know, participate, vote and supervise, and to respond to the concerns of party members and the pubic in a timely manner.


Chinese premier arrives in Sochi for SCO meeting


Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has arrived in the Russian city of Sochi.


He is in the city to attend the 16th meeting of the Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Prime Ministers.


As part of the meeting, Li Keqiang is expected to expound China's diplomacy and relations with other SCO member states in a new era.

The SCO was Founded in 2001 and originally grouped China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan.


The meeting in Sochi is the first of its kind after the organization's membership expansion in June to include India and Pakistan.


Canadian lawmaker makes statement in parliament on Japanese atrocities during WWII


Canadian lawmaker Jenny Kwan on Thursday made an open statement in parliament on the Nanjing Massacre and other Japanese atrocities committed during World War II.


It was the first time for a Canadian lawmaker to deliver such a statement to the House of Commons, and it came two weeks before the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.


On Dec. 13, the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia will hold events to mark Nanjing Massacre Commemorative Day.


Argentine Navy calls off rescue operation for missing submarine crew


Argentina's Navy has ended a rescue operation for 44 crew members of the ARA San Juan submarine.


However, the navy will continue to look for the vessel along the sea bottom, two weeks after it went off radar.


The submarine lost contact on Nov. 15 as it was navigating in the south Atlantic.


Officials believe an explosion detected around the same time may have sunk the vessel.


A subsequent multinational rescue effort had included teams from more than 10 countries.


UN envoy says Syria talks to go until Dec. 15


The UN envoy for Syria has said the current round of peace talks is to run through December 15, as he downplayed the need for face-to-face meetings while playing up how the two sides were physically closer.


Staffan de Mistura on Thursday held the first news conference since talks began formally a day earlier with the arrival of the Syrian government envoys.


The Syrian opposition delegation arrived for the start of the talks on Tuesday.


It is the 8th round of talks since early 2016.


The new round of the talks was originally scheduled to close on Dec. 1.


China arranges flights to fetch stranded tourists in Bali


The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has arranged domestic airlines to send 13 flights to fetch stranded tourists in Bali, Indonesia, as the airport reopened after a volcano eruption.


On Wednesday night, China Southern Airlines flew two planes from Guangzhou and Shenzhen while China Eastern Airlines sent four from Beijing and Shanghai to take more than 2,700 Chinese tourists home.


On Thursday, domestic airlines sent another seven flights to bring nearly 1,000 tourists home.


The CAAC also mobilized the help of foreign carriers, which are expected to send 29 planes to bring back nearly 5,600 tourists home.


China commissions new submersible for oceanic research in coming 30 years


China has officially commissioned a new manned submersible.


"Deep sea warrior," can reach depths of up to 4,500 meters.


It is expected to provide service for the country's ocean scientific research for the next 30 years.


A highlight of the sub is its state-of-the-art control system.


Experts say the system is the foundation for the country's future subs, that will be capable of descending to 10,000 meters below the surface.


China's current deep-sea diving record is around 7,000 meters.


Coca-Cola opens biggest bottling plant in N. China


Coca-Cola has opened a bottling plant in Xianghe County, southeast of Beijing.


It started operation on Thursday, producing bottled water, Coke, and Sprite, mainly to serve Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and neighboring regions.


Jointly owned by Coca-Cola and COFCO Corporation, the first phase of the plant involved investment of 76 million U.S. dollars.
