Five confirmed dead in Leicester explosion


British police say that five people are now confirmed dead in an explosion in Leicester on Sunday evening.


The announcement has been made after another body was found in a building that was flattened by the blast in the city center.


Four people were previously confirmed dead in the incident, which police say is not related to terrorism.


Four more people with serious injuries are currently receiving treatment, while local authorities say there may be more people missing.


Local police on Sunday declared a "major incident" after reports of the explosion in the Hinckley Road area of Leicester.


Liu Yandong meets with South Korean president on ties, peninsula issue


Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong has met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Seoul, urging further efforts to boost bilateral ties.


Liu says China and South Korea should take the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their strategic cooperative partnership as an opportunity to further enhance ties.


On the Korean Peninsula issue, Liu says China is dedicated to finding peaceful solutions through dialogue and consultation.


Moon says that the South Korean side wishes to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and expects China to continue extending support and cooperation in terms of promoting the south-north dialogue on the Korean Peninsula and North Korea-U.S. dialogue.


The Chinese official attended the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympics on Sunday.


King Tupou VI of Tonga to visit China


Tonga's King Tupou the Sixth will pay a state visit to China starting Wednesday.


The king is visiting at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.


This year marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.


Both Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang will meet with the king during his visit.


The King will also visit Zhejiang, Hainan and Guangdong provinces, before wrapping up his visit on March 8th.


EU 'keen' to include Western Balkans: Juncker


European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker says the EU is "keen" to receive Serbia and other Western Balkans countries as members, given that they meet certain pre-conditions.


Juncker has made the statement while visiting Serbia and meeting with Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic.


At the same time, Juncker has stressed that rule of law, the judiciary and bilateral relations remain the toughest challenges in the accession of the region.


Earlier in the year, the EU announced its expansion plan for the Western Balkans, and set 2025 as a perspective date for the process to be completed.


Juncker is currently on a tour of the region.

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit the U.S. in late April.


The visit comes at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.


The program of the state visit is under preparation.

China developing 400kph bullet trains: researcher


China is developing new bullet trains with speeds up to 400 kilometers per hour.


The announcement has been made by Ding Rong-jun, a leading researcher with the Chinese Academy of Engineering.


Ding also says China is researching the next generation magnetic-levitation train, with a top speed of 600 kilometers per hour.


The researcher adds that they are exploring ways to link TV signals to trains, so that passengers can enjoy TV and film programming while traveling.


The maximum speed of Chinese trains is now 350 kilometers per hour on the Fu-xing bullet trains.


The Fu-xing trains began operation last September, travelling between Beijing and Shanghai in four and a half hours each way.


Chinese group-buying site Meituan poised to enter insurance sector


The Chinese insurance regulator has granted a license to a firm backed by Chinese group-buying site Meituan.


The license is paving ways for Meituan to expand into the insurance sector.


Meituan says its insurance products in the future will be mostly related to its existing services.


It is offering services such as online ticketing, hotel booking and food ordering.


However, it is not the only Chinese internet firm eyeing on the insurance market.


Tencent, JD.com and Baidu have all secured insurance licenses over the past few years.


India's Bollywood actress Sridevi dies of accidental drowning


Media reports say Bollywood actress Sridevi died due to "accidental drowning."


The reports quoted a forensic report released by the UAE government saying that the 54-year-old veteran actress died in the bathtub of her hotel apartment after losing consciousness.


Initial reports suggested that she died of a cardiac arrest.


Traces of alcohol were also found in her blood.


Sridevi died on Saturday night in Dubai, where she had gone to attend a family wedding.
