Part 1. Overall Mobile Phone Market in China

February domestic mobile phone shipments reached 14.5 million units, down 19.9 percent year over year. 41 new models were released in the month, down 45.3 percent year-over-year (y/y).

Over the past 2 months, domestic mobile phone shipments reached 48.6 million units and number of new model release reached 73, down 15.1 percent and 42.1 percent y/y respectively.

Part 2. Development of 4G Mobile Phones

February domestic 4G mobile phone shipments were 14.0 million units, down 20.2 percent y/y, and represented 96.4 percent of the total shipments. 36 new 4G models were released in the month, down 35.7 percent y/y, accounting for 87.8 percent of the total new models this month.

Over the past 2 months, domestic 4G mobile phone shipments were 46.3 million units, down 14.0 percent y/y, and represented 95.4 percent of the total shipments. The total number of new model release reached 59, down 33.7 percent y/y, accounting for 80.8 percent of the total new model release.

Part 3. Local and MNC Brands of Mobile Phones

February mobile phone shipments by the local brands reached 13.1 million units, down 14.7 percent y/y, accounting for 90.3 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands (34 units) decreased by 49.3 percent y/y, and represented 82.9 percent of the total number of new model release in the month.

Mobile phone shipment volume for year 2019 by the local brands reached 45.2 million units, down 7.6 percent y/y, and accounted for 93.0 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands (65 units) decreased by 42.0 percent y/y, and represented 89.0 percent of the total number of new model release in the domestic market.

Part 4. Development of Smart Phones

February smart phone shipments were 14.0 million units, down 20.1 percent y/y, and accounted for 96.4 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments in the month. Over the past 2 months, smart phone shipments were 46.1 million units, down 14.2 percent y/y, and represented 95.0 percent of domestic mobile phone shipments.

In February, 36 new smart phone models were released, down 36.8 percent y/y, and accounted for 87.8 percent of the number of new release. Over the past 2 months, 58 new smart phone models were released, down 35.6 percent y/y, and accounted for 79.5 percent of the number of new release.
