Part 1. Overall Mobile Phone Market in China
August domestic mobile phone shipments were 26.9 million, down 12.9 percent year-over-year(y/y). 45 new models were released in the month, flat compared with the same period last year.
Over the past 8 months, domestic mobile phone shipments were 202.3 million and number of new model were 301, down 19.5 percent and 12.2 percent y/y respectively.

Part 2. Development of 5G Mobile Phones
August domestic 5G mobile phone shipments were 16.2 million, and represented 60.1 percent of the total shipments. 22 new 5G models were released in the month, accounting for 48.9 percent of the total new models released in the month.
YTD 5G mobile phone shipments were 93.7 million units, and the total number of new models were 141.
Part 3. Local and MNC Brands of Mobile Phones
August local brands of mobile phone shipments were 24.4 million, down 15.6 percent y/y, accounting for 90.8 percent of the total shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands were 42, increased by 5.0 percent y/y, and represented 93.3 percent of the total number of new models released in the month.
YTD local brands of Mobile phone shipments were 184.4 million, down 21.0 percent y/y, and accounted for 91.2 percent of the domestic mobile phone shipments. Number of new models released by the local brands were 276, decreased by 9.2 percent y/y, and represented 91.7 percent of the total number of new models.

Part 4. Development of Smart Phones
August smart phone shipments were 25.6 million, down 13.4 percent y/y, and accounted for 95.2 percent of the total shipments in the month. Over the past 8 months, smart phone shipments were 195.8 million, down 18.5 percent y/y, and represented 96.8 percent of the total shipments.
In August, 35 new smart phone models were released, down 2.8 percent y/y, and accounted for 77.8 percent of number of new models released in the month. Over the past 8 months, 232 new smart phone models were released, down 12.1 percent y/y, and accounted for 77.1 percent of the total number of new models.
