Depression: Let's talk!
Every year, on 7 April, World Health Day is celebrated to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization, aka WHO’s birthday!

Why depression?
Depression affects people of all ages, from all walks of life, in all countries. Unfortunately, there is a lack of real understanding about depression, which leads to low rates of diagnosis and treatment. In some cases, this can end in tragedy. Too often, we hear terrible stories of patients with depression being isolated or not taken seriously due to ignorance and stigma; for some, it means understanding too late, when they have already lost their loved ones, that depression is a disease.
Stories such as these are our call to action! People who are struggling with depression should not feel alone, stigmatized, or blamed for their condition. Depression is both preventable and treatable.
By drawing public attention to depression, we hope to encourage people with depression to talk about their illness and seek help and be treated if needed. Furthermore, by actively and openly supporting our friends and family members who are experiencing depression, the better we can manage and overcome this hidden disease.
Which is why, this World Health Day 2017, we are asking everyone “Feeling down? Let’s talk!”
What will you find in the campaign?
We will publish exclusive interviews with our surprise guests on our social media platform. They will share their personal stories on depression including what problems they faced and how they felt about it, how they overcame their depression, and how it affected the people around them.
We will hold an offline event, ‘Walk and Talk’, on World Health Day, 7 April, in Beijing. We want to promote the importance of active lifestyles for mental wellness, and create a comfortable environment for people to talk about their feelings while walking. It will be a 5km walk and attended by over 400 people. Let’s Walk and Talk together!
If you want to play an active role in fighting ignorance in depression, join our campaign!
Let’s fight the stigma of depression together!
More information will be posted soon.
