Abbreviation of Chinese Province

China is a large country with more than 34 provinces and municipalities, and each province has its own abbreviation. We will use abbreviation very often in our daily life. For example, it is used in lisence plate, since it saves more space, making it look more concise. When we talk about cuisines in different areas, we will also use abbreviation, such as “yuè cài” for Cantonese Cuisine, “xiāng cài” for Hunan Cuisine. For Some provinces, we just keep one of the characters as the abbreviation. However, there are also some provinces whose abbreviations are totally different from their own name.
