Nanshan School Maker Faire
Come one, come all to the 4th Annual Nanshan School Maker Faire! Come wonder and marvel at Shenzhen’s incredible young makers, designers, and innovators as they share their learning, innovations, and how it impacts their community. This year will be the most interactive one yet! Perhaps YOU will be inspired to do something for your community too!
Started in 2016, the first one was held at Shenzhen AmericanInternational School. The goal was to give students a platform for sharing and connecting the education community at large. The youngsters that participated in the inaugural event joined the world-wide celebration of making, innovation, creativity, and resourcefulness at the faire. Since then, the annual NanshanSchool Maker Faire has continued to grow in participation and inspiration. It is an event where students can show people what they are making, why, and share what they are learning. It is a place where educators can exchange ideas. It is a space where communities can identify new resources. The Nanshan School MakerFaire has grown into a supportive network of schools, organizations, students, educators, and families excited to exhibit annually.
Exhibits and Interactives
Over 30 schools and organizations will be presenting a 100+ student exhibitions and interactives. From weather stations, rockets, robots, programming games, making music to trying your hand at large construction- you will find that your curiosity will be piqued!
Continuous Workshops
Learn something new at one of the many ongoing workshops! Make a racing car or a costume. Learn how to code, program in VR, program for the internet of things. Deconstruct Chinese characters, construct delicious Korean kimbap, get your hands dirty with woodworking, or turn cardboard into an arcade- there’s much to try!

Grab a coffee and come listen to what is happening in the Shenzhen Maker Education community in an informal and casual setting. There will be a line-up of Maker Education risk-takers and innovators’ sharing what has worked for them and what hasn’t. These will be ongoing talks on the 2nd floor in the Design Society Learning Space.

Have the young makers of MG Space show you their mechanical marvels! A large hands-on mechanical exhibit will be on display breaking down the basics of simple machinery. And don’t miss the Nerdy Derby! A track for the older racers and the young racers alike- come one, come all to the second floor and make your race cars to zoom down the track!

The students of Bromsgrove School Mission Hills and Mr. Bill will demonstrate the building of bridges- arch, cable stayed, and suspension! Students will actually walk across the structures they create. Do not miss an opportunity to see large construction in action!
