Film Workshops: Show Your Story

2016-03-01 shenzhenparty

Do you make videos with your phone but don't know what to do with them? Have you been wanting to tell your story but don't know how to get started?

Whether you're a beginner filmmaker or an entrepreneur who wants to make video promotions for their business, this workshop is designed to enable you to make your own videos and films. In 3 comprehensive sessions, we’ll cover the basics of what makes a great video, how to get started and how to go about shooting films with whatever equipment you have - even phone cameras. We finish with editing your videos and showcasing them at a screening of your and other international films.

The space is VERY limited - I'm taking a very small class size so that we can give attention to every individual project. If you enroll, I will work with your special skill set to enable you to create your own projects. All you need is your enthusiasm and lots of ideas!

Session 1 - March 6: Introduction to film basics. How to create a concept, script and flow of your video or short film. How to think of shots, angles and how to gather resources to film your video.

Session 2 - March 13: How to film your video using your own equipment. What kind of crew is needed. How to set up lights or use available lighting. When to use outdoor locations and what to avoid or watch out for. How to record sound and mix music and best resources for free music for film use.

Session 3 - March 20: How to edit your videos and films using iMovie or Adobe Premiere. Hands on editing on your own projects. How to use editing cuts to best tell your story including advice from Hollywood editors on their best practices. How to create basic introduction and credit animations.

Session 4 - Screenings - March 27: Film screenings from all students and an international film festival of films shot with small budgets on mobile phones and small cameras. FREE for all students to attend.
