QSI International School of Shenzhen is a non-profit institution that has operated in Shenzhen for 15 years as one of the only true international schools in the area serving the expatriate population. The city’s largest international school with the longest-standing IB authorization, QSI’s four campuses offer an American-accredited (Middle States Association) education in the English language for students ages 3 through 18. QSI follows a mastery-learning curriculum that nurtures and challenges the whole student, preparing students to graduate with both an American diploma and an IB Diploma so that they can continue on to some of the best universities around the world.
QSI International School of Shenzhen’s NANSHAN campus opened in 2013 and now serves students ages 3 through 9 years old in the TCL Science Park in Xili. Facilities include a two-floor multimedia library, technology lab, laptop lab, cafeteria with restaurant catering, café, all-season sports field, 2 covered playgrounds, preschool and elementary music rooms, and classrooms with natural light.
The American curriculum that all worldwide QSI campuses follow includes Literacy, Mathematics, Cultural Studies, Science, Heritage or Non-Native Chinese, Art, Music, Technology, and Physical Education. Our curriculum is available online at curriculum.qsi.org. In addition, a wide range of after school activities including competitive sports are offered at all campuses.
Intensive English classes are offered to students (at no extra cost) who need additional help with English development from 6 years of age and older. Students under age 5 learn English in integrated classrooms. Our teachers are professionally trained by American standards in English Language Development pedagogy in all content areas so that students who are still developing English learn side-by-side fluent English speakers as much as possible.
Our teaching staff is comprised of native English speakers, the majority of whom come from America. All teaching staff have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience, are certified in their teaching areas from their U.S. states, and many hold advanced Education degrees. Class sizes are no larger than 18 or 20 students. Textbooks are American and loaned to students without charge. No uniforms are needed; a P.E. uniform is provided. Optional busing is available in 15 bus routes to popular housing areas.
