Only Real给人的感觉大概就是有一个夏日男友的感觉：红毛，穿着花花绿绿的夏威夷衬衫，慵懒晕眩的午后大大咧咧瘫在你家沙发上，叼着吸管喝着呲呲冒气儿的饮料。其实有这种感觉没啥错儿，Only Real就是Niall Galvin，而Niall Galvin就是那个夏日男朋友。
即使你第一眼把这个来自西伦敦的大男孩和你在滑板公园见到的任何一个人搞混，但Niall Galvin绝对不是一个你可以忽略的家伙。凭借着自己对于Hip-Hop、和那些在滑板视频里听到的歌的兴趣，Galvin 于2011年底开始以Only Real的名义在网上发布自己的作品。这些把自己关在卧室里捣鼓出的东西很快引起了关注，并在接下来的发展中获得了不少优秀制作人的帮助，如Ben Allen（Washed Out, Deerhunter）、Dan Carey (Hot Chip, Childhood)都在Only Real歌曲的制作名单上留下了名字。
在陆陆续续发布了一些EP之后，Only Real终于在2015年发行了专辑[Jerk At the End of the Line]。专辑封面上，穿着大菠萝衬衫的男孩子头顶着一个大大的"JERK"，其实则是个不折不扣的小可爱。整张专辑的气质也和封面高度吻合，融合进了psychedelic dream pop、九十年代hip-hop，和带着点儿小聪明的说唱歌词。像是走在自食其力的DIY和完美的制作编配之间，而这也正是这张专辑讨喜的地方。
想找到Only Real关注的主题并不是难事——无聊的聚会和派对啦，晚上在哪喝醉啦，哪个女孩又伤了他的心啦等等。Niall Galvin坦言喜欢简单几句话就能触动神经的感觉，让你抖着腿的同时被击中，随即会心一笑。也许，丧的时候听Only Real不能让你马上也变成一个又骚又浪的小可爱，但却能帮你留住放学路上甩着包迎着夕阳蹦蹦跳跳的轻松和自在。

Only Real, otherwise known as Niall Galvin, is a 25-year-old from West London who mixes kitchen-sink rapping with spun-out guitar and synths to make upbeat, off-kilter pop music.
After growing up playing piano, Galvin first started writing songs aged 14 with a Spanish classical guitar - “the rappy, singing element was just something that came out of my mouth,” he says. The first tracks from Only Real appeared online towards the end of 2011 and swiftly caught the attention of talent managers. Galvin managed to fly over and work with Atlanta-based producer Ben Allen (Washed Out, Deerhunter, P Diddy) after signing to Virgin in November 2013, and released his debut album, Jerk at the End of the Line, in March.
Like the bumptious lovechild of Brian Wilson and Outkast’s Andre 3000. Galvin lays Mike Skinner-style rapped verses over jangling, garagey guitars and sparse, electronic beats. But within Only Real’s blissed out, lo-fi pop there lies a mischievous heart of honest, narrative lyrics, which tell tales of blossoming romance (Daisychained), revelry (Blood Carpet) and youthful malaise (Can’t Get Happy) in a way that recalls Jamie T - but from the other side of the Thames. “I like to create those moments that will hit a certain nerve and really resonate with you, a few words that will trigger something,” he says of his lyric-writing.
Galvin didn’t start properly listening to music until his teens, (“I found it a bit intense to listen to. But when I understood the beauty of what it was I kind of got into it”) but cites his mother’s love of The Beach Boys as a major influence as well as American hip-hop. His enjoyment of Deerhunter led him to work with Allen and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Pogues and Yo La Tengo have all left their mark on Galvin’s debut album.
