2021 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship
Founded in 1951, Donghua University (DHU) is one of the 75 universities under the direct management of the Ministry of Education of China. It provides various popular non-degree Chinese language programs on its downtown campus in the city of Shanghai. In 2018, our Chinese language program was accredited by EAQUALS (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services).
In recent years, DHU enrolls over 4800 international students from nearly 140 countries annually. Our university has become a popular destination for many international students who intend to learn Chinese language. Even during the pandemic period, there were more than 300 students from 58 countries who actively participated in our Chinese language programs in the spring semester of 2021.
In the academic year of 2021, international students can apply for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship under the recommendation of the recommending institutions to learn Chinese in the leading DHU Chinese language programs. Applicants
Non-Chinese citizens;
In good physical and mental conditions, and with good academic performance and conduct;
Committed to the Chinese language education and related work;
Between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2021).
Scholarship Value
Scholarship value includes tuition, accommodation fee and living allowance (except for four-week students) and insurance.

Type & Eligibility

One-Academic-Year Study
The program commences in September 2021 and provides scholarships for a maximum of eleven months. International students currently studying in China are not eligible.
Application Deadline:
15 May 2021
Chinese Language and Literature: Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).
Chinese Language Study: Applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.

One-Semester Study
The program commences either in September 2021 or March 2022 and provides scholarships of a maximum of five months. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.

15 May 2021 (Sept. entry)
15 Nov. 2021 (Mar. entry)
Chinese Language and Literature: Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.

Four-Week Study
The program commences in December 2021 and provides a four-week scholarship. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.
Application Deadline:
15 September 2021
Chinese Study, Chinese Language plus Home-Stay Experience in a Chinese Family, etc.: An HSK test score is required. The program may be organized and applied for by a recommending institution with 10-15 participants per group. Prior to the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with Donghua University and such plan shall be submitted for approval.

Please log on the website (http://cis.chinese.cn), read the "Application Procedures" carefully and search the recommending institutions. Fill in the personal information, upload application materials and complete the online application as required.

Applicants should track the application progress, comments and the final result by themselves.

Scholarship holders need to confirm with the host institutions to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the scholarship certificate online; scholarship holders should register at Donghua University on the designated date as per the letter of admission.
