介休是中国琉璃之乡。烧制工艺从宋代就开始，明清时期达到顶峰。介休琉璃自成体系，独树一帜，精美的琉璃历经数百年，色泽不衰。

Jiexiu is the hometown of Chinese colored glaze. The firing process began in the Song Dynasty and reached its peak in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Jiexiu colored glaze is unique and has its own system. The exquisite glaze has lasted hundreds of years with unfailing color.

我叫刘开宝, 我是咱们晋中市唯一一位琉璃烧造技艺的传承人。我对介休琉璃的热爱，是在家族烧造技艺传承氛围的引导下，刚开始是作为一个生存的行业来做，现在感情渗透到琉璃文化里面去了。

My name is LIU KAIBAO, and I am the only inheritor of the colored glaze firing technique in Jinzhong. My love for Jiexiu colored glaze is guided by the inheritance of the family's firing technique. In the beginning, I regarded colored glaze as a profession to make a living. Now it seems that I have a passion for the colored glaze culture.

琉璃技艺的复兴

明代是介休琉璃发展的鼎盛时期，2012年，介休市要申报“中国建筑琉璃艺术之乡”，给我提供了一个小件的造型。我就把这个造型从一尺高左右烧造到十米高左右，通过十三个月左右的时间复制出来，把它完成。

The Ming Dynasty was the heyday of Jiexiu colored glaze. In 2012, Jiexiu intended to declare the "Hometown of Chinese Architectural Colored Glaze Art," and I was offered a small piece of modeling. I then completed this modeling by firing it from about one chi high to about ten meters high and replicating it over a period of about 13 months.

琉璃的传承

做一件琉璃作品最重要的是什么？必须要使它的造型在文化传承里有一定的寓意；烧制的技艺流程必须要严谨；必须要原料干净、水源干净，好像有个纯净的心才能做出艺术感最高的琉璃艺术品来。这就是我干了几十年以后（的体会），好像有种传统文化精神支柱在里面，这就是为什么咱们中国几千年的传统文化，辈辈在传承。

What is the most important thing to make a colored glaze work? Its shape must indicate a certain symbolic meaning in the cultural heritage and the technical process of firing must be rigorous. We must have clean raw materials and clean water, as if we must have a pure heart to make colored glaze artworks with the highest artistic sense. I've been making colored glaze for decades when supported by the spiritual pillar of traditional culture. This is why we have thousands of years of traditional culture in China passed down from generation to generation.
