A Cross-Country Running Race
Last Sunday witnessed an extraordinary cross-country running race, which nearly drew the attention of every student and teacher of our school.
The students selected from every class took part in the competition. The route measured five kilometers, from our school gate to the foot of Nanshan Mountain. Every runner tried their best to finish the task, with their classmates along the way giving them necessary help as well as encouragement. At last, all the runners managed to arrive at the finish line, receiving cheers from all the directions.
The activity was highly spoken of, because not only did it provide chance for us to exercise, but also made us more cohesive.

Nowadays, with the development of (随着...的发展) society, the number of wild animals is decreasing quickly and some of them are in danger of dying out. There are many reasons for this.
Firstly, some people are still hunting wild animals. Secondly, the habitats of wild animals are being destroyed by human beings. Lastly, the pollution of the environment also leads to the death of wild animals.
What should we do to protect the wild animals? On the one hand, we must make laws to stop hunting wild animals and destroying their habitats. On the other, we must take measures to stop pollution. Only in this way can we protect the wild animals better.

Be smart online learner
Nowadays, online study has been widely adopted and spread in campus among teenagers, with its swiftness, efficiency, as well as low cost. However, with an increasing number of students becoming online learners, how to be a smart online learner to make full use of online study has aroused wide attention. Here I’d like to call on all of us to be smart online learner.
Compared with traditional schooling, learning online can happen anytime and anywhere. And we can review the lesson according to our own schedule. However, online study can need more focus and self-discipline, and we don’t have classmates to discuss or have the teacher’s instruction in person like in physical class.
What I call on here is to set up a timetable and try to combine online study with offline study. In addition, try to write down the problems and consulted the teacher in time. Don’t forget to review the knowledge on books. And limit study time to 2 hours a time to protect eyes. Finally, let’s be smart online learner and make more progress in study. In my village, every day starts with a “fire”! The houses turn red as the sun rises above the mountains.
Seeing the flames, the roosters sound the alarm. They wake everyone in the village with their loud cries, chasing the children to school and rushing the adults to work. In the evening, a gold haze settles over everything. This is my favourite time of the day, when all work for the day has been completed. When the smell of hot oil and fragrant spices float through the air, I know that it will soon be time for dinner. My neighbours begin to call to their children to come home. The birds begin their nightly quarrel over their favourite places to rest.
At night, the stars come out to tell us that all is well and my village grows quiet. For now we’ll sleep, and tomorrow the sun will set us on fire again for a new day!
