心痛！章莹颖遗体已被压缩填埋，被凶手放3个垃圾袋扔掉

当地时间7日，章莹颖家人召开发布会，就章莹颖遗体的可能下落和搜寻情况进行说明。

凶手克里斯滕森杀害章莹颖后，将她的遗体分别置入3个垃圾袋，这些垃圾袋曾被压缩至少两次，章莹颖身体残骸的体积可能变得非常非常小。

The family of slain Chinese scholar Yingying Zhang said Wednesday they now know where her body might have been dumped, but that it might be impossible to find her remains more than two years after her brutal murder.

被杀害的中国学者章莹颖家人如今已经知道，她的遗体可能已经被丢弃，但现在距离这场残忍的谋杀已两年有余，几乎不可能再找到她的遗体。

Zhang family attorney Steve Beckett said, based on information provided by federal prosecutors and attorneys for convicted killer Brendt Christensen, her body likely was taken to a landfill near Danville, Illinois, after Christensen placed her remains in three garbage bags and tossed them in a dumpster.

章莹颖家属律师史蒂夫·贝克特表示，根据联邦检察官和克里斯滕森的辩护律师提供的信息，章莹颖的遗体可能被克里斯滕森装进3个垃圾袋，带到一个伊利诺伊州丹维尔附近的一个垃圾填埋场丢弃。

细节让人心碎！

“He told them after killing her, he placed her remains in three separate garbage bags,” Beckett said.

He said Christensen told his attorneys that he tossed the bags into a dumpster near his apartment before he disposed of her clothes, cellphone and other of her personal items in dumpsters around the area, which is about 120 miles (195 km) southwest of Chicago.

他表示，克里斯滕森告诉他的律师，他先将装有章莹颖遗体的垃圾袋扔进他公寓附近的垃圾箱，接着又把章莹颖的衣物、手机和其他个人物品丢进周围地区的垃圾箱中，大约距离芝加哥西南195千米。

▌被压缩两次，遗骸体积或已小于一部手机

据美联社报道：

Sanitation workers emptied the dumpster that purportedly contained the victim’s remains a few days later and took the contents to a landfill in the Danville area, where they were compacted “at least twice” before being taken to a private landfill and covered with least 30 feet (9 meters) of trash.

He said that although authorities have a general idea of where the remains might be, recovering them would be expensive and difficult.

Such an effort would also be complicated by environmental rules regarding digging at landfills and the fact that the remains have certainly decomposed and are believed to be “very small in size.”

美联社文章写道，贝克特披露了非常残忍的细节，称章莹颖的遗体可能比手机还要小（any remains “could be smaller than a cellphone”）。

章莹颖家人在声明中表示，寻找遗体的工作是复杂且昂贵的，需要当地政府的监督，以及垃圾填埋场主人的配合，并且不确定会成功（no certainty of success）。目前，搜寻工作尚未展开。

罪犯透露如何处置遗体，

却受“豁免”保护？

2018年11月，克里斯滕森的律师告诉检察官和其他调查人员，称克里斯滕森曾告诉律师，他在杀害章莹颖后如何处置了其遗体。

克里斯滕森一方希望可以以此作为交换，免于死刑，但此举遭到了检方拒绝，因为他们无法确定真实性：

He said Christensen told his attorneys what he did with the remains last November and the attorneys discussed offering to give the information to prosecutors in exchange for their agreement not to seek the death penalty. 

However, although prosecutors considered such a plea bargain, they decided against it after determining there was no way of knowing if Christensen was telling the truth if the body could never be found.

贝克特表示，如果在审判前将遗体位置信息公布，将会提醒陪审团重新考虑，是否将要饶过凶手一命：

Beckett also said the defense attorneys had to know that by making that information public, which the Zhang family desperately wanted, would have alerted jurors deciding whether to spare Christensen’s life that he not only had decapitated her, he had also dismembered her.

贝克特也表示辩方律师要知道如果将遗体位置信息公布，这也是章莹颖家人一直希望的，这将会提醒陪审团，是否要饶过这个不仅将受害者砍头还肢解了她的凶手。

“The defense did not want the information about what he did with the body put before the jury. … Treating this young woman as leftover vegetables and throwing her out with the garbage,” Beckett said.

贝克特说：“辩方不想在陪审团庭审之前将克里斯滕森如何处置遗体的信息公之于众。……他就像处理剩菜剩饭一样，将章莹颖的遗体当做垃圾一起扔掉了。”

但这条信息受到 “豁免“ 保护，意味着这些证词和任何依此获得的证据都无法在克里斯滕森的刑事定罪和量刑审判中使用。

因为这条信息来自于豁免协议（immunity agreement），在审判结束前，检察官不能向包括章莹颖的家人在内的任何人透露该信息。

克里斯滕森的律师知道这份声明，并声称由他们向检察官提供的信息来自克里斯滕森本人。克里斯滕森未与任何执法人员就此有过直接对话。

章父：希望继续搜寻 将为女儿立墓

章莹颖家人的法律援助律师王志东表示，克里斯滕森此前多次撒谎，不能确认上述关于遗体下落的信息是否真实。现在只能披露他们被告知的内容。

章莹颖的父亲章荣高在发布会现场说：“如果罪犯所说的是真的，那进一步证实他是一个无情和邪恶的人（it further confirms that he is a heartless and evil person）。”

“我们强烈谴责他的残忍的恶毒的行径，并且希望他在监狱中痛苦地度过余生，作为他残害莹颖的报应。”

“We condemn his brutal and malicious actions and we hope that he suffers for the rest of his life as he made Yingying suffer in the final moments of her life,” he said through an interpreter.

章荣高表示，对于每一个曾经帮忙寻找莹颖的人，他们都非常感激。

“我们认为目前最好是让当局调查搜寻莹颖遗体的可行性。对于我们来说，没有任何事比找回我们的女儿，带她回家更重要。我们明白，这也许不可能了，但是只要她的遗体被发现，我们就将回来带她回家，安息在自己的家园。”

Zhang’s family said they believe the best thing to do at this point is allow federal, state, and local authorities to determine the feasibility of recovering her body.

Zhang’s father said if his daughter’s remains are ever found, her family plans to take her body back to China.

章荣高还表示，决定按照中国的传统，在美国为女儿立下一座坟墓纪念她。

“我们正与伊利诺伊大学合作此事，我们希望莹颖的墓地将是一个庄严的地方，在这里所有前来探望的人都能记住，她一生中为她的家人和每一个与她曾经相遇的人所带来的快乐。”

“We hope it will be a solemn place of reflection to all who visit, a place to remember the joy Yingying brought to her family and to everyone she met during her life,” her father said.
