1月5日 8PM ▶「Spit-Tunes」一场音乐与诗歌的碰撞 (Poetry & Music)
Spittoon is one of Beijing's main stage for poetry and fiction writers, with reading nights taking place across the city and a bi-annual literary magazine that currently sells in The Bookworm, Mil Gotas and The Great Outdoors. Spittoon has always been a platform for creativity and innovation, and we are very excited to introduce the third showcase of our exciting music and writing collaboration project - Set to take place at DDC, January 5th 2018.
Spittoon 是北京的诗歌和小说作家的主要舞台之一，这里有读书之夜，还有一本双年一期的文学杂志，在The Bookworm, Mil Gotas 和 The Great Outdoors 销售。Spittoon 一直是创意和创新的平台，我们非常高兴地介绍我们激动人心的音乐和写作合作项目的第三个展示平台，该项目将于2018年1月5日在DDC举行。
Spit-Tunes sets up a band or musical artist with a poet for collaboration on a special musical piece inspired by the poet's poetry. We have an amazing line up, with KO, DFA1989, Hugh Reed, Li Er Yang, and Ember Swift taking part - A vast array of musical styles that would suffice to be a brilliant gig alone except that now the bands will play a special col 37 35133 37 13282 0 0 8009 0 0:00:04 0:00:01 0:00:03 8006laboration song in their sets, complete with a small reading from each collaborating poet.
"Spit--Tunes"是一个乐队或音乐艺术家，与一位诗人合作，共同创作一首由诗人的诗歌创作的特别音乐作品。我们有一个相当豪华的阵容: KO, DFA1989, Hugh Reed, 李尔杨和 Ember Swift, 这里有丰富的音乐风格,足以独自成为一个出色的演出, 除了现在的乐队将合作歌曲集,他们还会和每一个合作的诗人创作一本手记。
The confirmed Spittoon poets are: Poornima Weerasekara, Ben Zarov, Chris Carpenter, Ben Thompson and Jumi Belllo. This is a project that brings Beijing's music and literary scenes together in a hugely compelling way and we're very lucky to have the best talents to bring it to life. Come to DDC on the 5th January to see the what our musicians and writers have cooked up. All music and poetry collaborations will be interpreted by artist James Sserwadda in a special live art performance!

Poornima Weerasekara (poet) × Li Er Yang (musician)
Poornima Weerasekara is an editor at finance magazine Caixin. She has also worked as a journalist in Sri Lanka and India and translates poetry from her native Sinhalese.
Poornima Weerasekara 是一位财经杂志的编辑。她也在斯里兰卡和印度担任过记者，她还从事母语僧伽罗语的诗歌翻译工作。
Lee is a young avant-garde musician based in Beijing. He draws influence from 60's and 70's' musicians like Neil Young,Bob Dylan,David Bowie and Kraftwerk.....He covered songs of Led Zepplelin and wrote his own Blues music. During the two years of 2015 and 2016, he paid tribute to Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Pink Floyd, rendering their songs with his arrangements.
李尔杨是一位居住在北京的年轻的先锋音乐家。他受六七十年代的音乐家影响很深，如Neil Young, Bob Dylan, David Bowie 和 Kraftwerk 等。他翻唱了很多齐柏林飞艇的作品，也开始创作自己的布鲁斯作品。在2015年和2016年，他致敬鲍勃迪伦，尼尔杨，列奥纳多科恩和平克弗洛伊德，将很多他们的作品按自己的想法重新演绎。
Lee proficiently uses a delay/loop to create psychedelic and concise music, sometimes with distinct ancient Chinese music style. January 2017 saw Lee release an experimental guitar album 《one》, intending to explore the possibilities of music playing.
李尔杨精通用延迟与循环效果创作迷幻音乐，有时也会有中国传统音乐的风格。2017年2月他发行了一张实验吉他的新唱片《一》来探索音乐演奏的不同可能性。
Ben Thompson (poet) × KO (musician)
Ben Thompson studied literature at Essex and music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After that he went to London and got involved in the squats in King's Cross for five years, contemporaneously becoming an informal PA to the late Peggy Duff in setting up the London office of European Nuclear Disarmament. After that he was a computer programmer for 18 years. In 1996 he was joint first prize winner of the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award from BBC Radio North for a verse drama "The Millennium Bible". Since 2000 he has worked as an actor in Beijiing.
Ben Thompson 在埃塞克斯学习过文学，在 Guildhall 戏剧音乐学院学习过音乐。之后他去伦敦生活了5年，成为了Peggy Duff在伦敦设立欧洲核裁军办公室的私人助理。在那之后，他做了18年的程序设计师。在1996年他以一个诗歌戏剧《千年圣经》赢得了 BBC 的 Alfred Bradley Bursary 奖。从2000年开始，他在北京做演员。
KO (Joyful Nosie Recordings) is Chicago based musician playing Afro-grunge, psychedelic and ethereal rock music.
KO 来自芝加哥，创作非洲车库摇滚，迷幻和轻盈的摇滚乐。
Chris Carpenter (poet) × Hugh Reed (musician)
Chris Carpenter writes poems to chronicle his days and nights in Beijing, covering such topics as love, teaching, dancing, drinking, and music. He performs regularly at Spittoon events such as Open Mic and Slam Poetry. He uses simple language and rhythm to engage everyone in the audience, from longtime poets to newcomers and everyone in-between. He has said, "My hope is that there is at least one of my poems people can find some part of themselves in, discover some truth about themselves they didn't realize."
Chris Carpenter 他写诗记录他在北京的日日夜夜，他写爱情，写教书，写跳舞，写饮酒，还有音乐。他定期在 Spittoon 的项目中表演，比如 Open Mic 和 Slam Poetry. 他用简单的语言和节奏吸引了在场的每一个人，从杰出的诗人到诗歌新人，每一个人都被他吸引。他曾经说："我希望我至少有一首诗是人们可以在其中找到他们自己的，发现他们从未认识到的真实"。

His first single Six to Wan (621) was used by BBC Radio 1 as a theme tune for a series of programmes on Scottish Rock, in the early 1990s.

Jumi Bello (poet) × Ember Swift (musician)
There are two things Jumi Bello has always known: she was going to write and she was going to travel. Travel and write, she did: she's lived on two different continents from her native North America and published two poetry books by the age of twenty-one. She's got a soft spot for island life, the last stint being on Taiwan for 4 years. When she isn't writing, she's teaching high school history. Whenever she travels, it always involves a solo motorcycle road trip or scuba diving 20 meters under. Washington DC is home.
Jumi Bello总是知道两件事：她将要写什么和她将要去哪儿。旅行和写作，她是这样结合的：她住在两个不同的大洲，在她21岁的时候出版了两本诗集。她喜欢小岛生活，她在台湾住过四年。当她不写作的时候，她在高中教历史。不论她什么时候旅行，总是伴有摩托车公路旅行或者20米深的潜水。华盛顿是她的家。

Ember Swift is a Canadian musician and singer-songwriter who has been living in Beijing since 2008. She's released 12 albums and 1 DVD over the years including her most recent album "Sticks & Stones" (2017). She writes decidedly eclectic music in a variety of styles including jazz, folk, funk, calypso, rock, folk-rock, reggae and country. Her songs are in English, Mandarin and French. She performs regularly with her band.
Ember Swift 是一名加拿大音乐人兼创作型歌手，自2008年以来一直住在北京。多年来，她发行了12张专辑和1张DVD，其中包括她最近的专辑"Sticks & Stones" (2017)。她的音乐风格多样，包括爵士、民谣、放克、卡普乐、摇滚、民谣摇滚、雷鬼音乐和乡村音乐。她的歌曲有英语、普通话和法语。她经常和乐队一起表演。
Ben Zarov (poet) × DFA1989 (musician)
Ben Zarov is a poet and educator living in Beijing, China. He's an avid music fan and is thrilled to participated in his first Spittunes. Ben enjoys painting with water colors and swimming in his spare time. He dreams of publishing a chap book and buying an MPC machine and making music. He believes life is short and art is long.
Ben Zarov 是居住在北京的诗人、教育工作者。他非常热爱音乐，这是他第一次参加 Spittunes ，他感到非常激动。Ben 喜欢画水彩画和游泳。他梦想出版一本画册和拥有一台多媒体个人电脑来创作音乐。他坚信生命很短而艺术很长。
DFA 1989 is a doom drone collective with a constantly shifting line up that may or may not originate from the forests of Lichtenstein, currently based in Beijing ,China. DFA89 experience is not just an audible one, rather one that overwhelms the senses: avante garde horror films pierce the darkness, dirge drones rise like mountains, spoken words tell tales of nightmares and dreamscapes, while robed figures stalk around the room. DFA89 invites you beyond.

James Sserwadda (Live painting)
An enthusiastic Afro-punk artist from Uganda who has thrived in the creative industry. He has generated a vivid insight through his art. He has created a wave which has slowly but surely grown onto people here in China.
一位热衷于非洲朋克的乌干达艺术家，活跃于创意产业中。他在创作时有生动的观察力，他掀起了一阵缓慢但席卷了中国人的浪潮。
One show after another he manages to bring something new to the table, and has captured hearts through his unique take on subject matters. Curiosity and excitement is always in the air whenever he is involved in a project.
在演出进行的过程当中他会为我们带来一些新东西，他被这个独特的主题所吸引。每当他进行他的展示时，好奇心与兴奋感总是弥漫在空气中。
Spittoon is a platform that supports and sustains literary and artistic collaborations between the Chinese and the World. It organizes poetry and fiction reading nights, workshops, a music-poetry collaboration called Spit-Tunes, and the Spittoon Literary Magazine.
Spittoon是一个中外文学和艺术社区，我们组织各种文学艺术活动，包括诗歌、小说朗读之夜，写作工作坊和诗歌音乐 Spit-Tunes，并主办 Spittoon 双语文学杂志。
