4/28 ▶ Spittoon 北京现场连线哥德堡 The Shimmering Wall (Poetry & Music)

Spittoon started as a simple poetry night on Baochao hutong in 2015 as a way to bring people together and for people from different continents to relate together, through translation and good company. Over the last 4 years it has grown to amulti-city organization in China and now a trans-national organization, with one simple goal: to bring people together through the arts. Whether it’s ourbi-lingual literary magazine or comic book, our event communities or our mixed media collaborative events (Spittunes) – We are always looking for new ways that people can share and understand each other.

Spittoon 起源于2015年宝钞胡同的一个诗歌朗诵会之夜，致力于将五湖四海热爱诗歌的人聚集到一起。经过4年的发展，Spittoon 现在的成员虽然遍布世界各地，但他们有一个统一的目标：用艺术让人们走在一起。不论是我们的双语杂志或幽默书籍，还是我们的活动中心或多媒体合作活动（Spittunes），我们始终不懈地寻找让人们互相分享和了解彼此的机会。

Matias Ruiz-Tagle

In 2017, Chile born Matias Ruiz-Tagle, our former Spittoon Fiction event host, decidedt o leave Beijing and start again in the city of Gothenburg in Sweden. Although, he didn’t start again… He took Spittoon with him. Now he has grown a successful Spittoon community that is currently preparing for its seventh monthly event – with an audience fascinated by Spittoon in China and an audience in China like wise intrigued and fascinated by our Swedish community, it seemed only right to  bring them together.

2017年，生于智利的 Matias Ruiz-Tagle（Spittoon小说交流会前主持人），决定再次尝试离开北京，带着 Spittoon 回到瑞典哥德堡。如今，他已成功建立 Spittoon 社区，并且目前正在筹备为期七个月的月度活动。合作伙伴包括来自中国的一位 Spittoon 忠实观众和一位同样来自中国，但对 Spittoon 瑞典社区文化相当着迷的观众，也许这看起来是唯一一种能将他们结合在一起的方式。

We are going to stage a simultaneous webcast. Spittoon Gothenburg and Spittoon Beijing will come together and stage an event at the same time – 9pm Beijing and 3pm Gothenburg with unique acts in succession from each. Both communities will interact together through a large projector screen – The shimmering wall.

我们将组织一场两地联网活动直播。哥德堡 Spittoon 和北京 Spittoon 将在同一时间举行活动——北京时间晚九点、哥德堡时间下午三点，以独特的编排让两地活动轮流上演。他们将通过一个巨大的屏幕进行互动，我们将这块屏幕成为“微光墙”。

WHAT WILL BEIJING BRING TO THE WALL?

Spittunes:

Born from the Spittoon Arts Collective, Spittunes is a project that sets up a band ormusical artist with a poet for collaboration on a special musical piece inspired by the poet’s poetry.  We have an amazing line up – A vast array of musical styles that would suffice to be abrilliant gig alone, except that now the bands will play a special collaboration song in their sets that they have worked on together with their poets, complete with a small reading from each collaborating poet. This is a project that brings Beijing's music and literary scenes together in a hugely compelling way and we're very lucky to have the best talents to bring it to life.

Spittunes 诞生于Spittoon Arts Collective，他们经常会组织乐队或音乐人与诗人合作，在活动上，音乐人会演奏那些灵感来源于诗歌的音乐作品。我们拥有令人惊艳的阵容——每组音乐人本身都能单独举办各自精彩的专场演出，更不用说当他们与诗人进行合作时的跨界演出，并且他们每次都会以读一首诗作为每次演出的收尾。此系列演出项目为北京的音乐人和诗人提供了走在一起进行合作的机会，我们也非常荣幸能邀请到这些拥有艺术天赋的人实现这场音乐与诗歌的盛宴。

Daniel Rothwell

Lover of all things spontaneous, noise maker and gif curator Daniel Rothwell embraces yet another collaborative opportunity on an instrument you may, or may not have seen him hit before.

对所有即兴事物都着迷的 Daniel Rothwell 是一位声音制造者和动图创作者。目前，他正在器乐方面探索全新的合作机会。

Jumi Bello (poet)

There are two things Jumi Bello has always known: she was going to write and she was going to travel. Travel and write, she did: she's lived on two different continents from her native North America and published two poetry books by the age of twenty-one. She's got a soft spot for island life, the last stint beingon Taiwan for 4 years. When she isn't writing, she's teaching high school history. Whenever she travels, it always involves a solo motorcycleroad trip or scuba diving 20 meters under. Washington DC is home.

Jumi Bello 总是知道两件事：她将要写什么和她将要去哪儿。旅行和写作，她是这样结合的：她住在两个不同的大洲，在她21岁的时候出版了两本诗集。她喜欢小岛生活，她在台湾住过四年。当她不写作的时候，她在高中教历史。不论她什么时候旅行，总是伴有摩托车公路旅行或者20米深的潜水。华盛顿是她的家。

Liane Halton

Liane Halton is a musician in Beijing. Having completed a B. Mus. in Composition and Classical Guitar at Rhodes University in South Africa in 2012, she moves between contemporary world, classical, and jazz styles. She plays inmultiple bands in Beijing, including Xiaowang and Boss Cuts, and composes for the classical guitar.

Liane Halton 是一位常驻北京的音乐人。于2012年在南非的Rhodes 大学完成了作曲与古典吉他的学习，之后 Liane 便在演奏中融合了现代、古典与爵士的风格。她在北京与多组乐队合作，包括 Xiaowang 和Boss Cuts，同时也吉他进行作曲。

Anthony Tao

Anthony Taois a writer and editor in Beijing. His poetry has appeared in publications such as The Cortland Review, Prairie Schooner, Borderlands, Kartika Review,Frontier, Asian Cha, and more. He is currently the Asia managing editor of SupChina, and formerly coordinated the 9th and 10th editions of the Bookworm Literary Festival. Follow him on Twitter @anthonytao

Brendan McCumstie

Brendan McCumstie (1973) was born in rural NSW, AUSTRALIA and currently lives and works in Beijing. He  has a formal background in sports, medicine and psychology. McCumstie’s work has been collected by numerous financial institutions and is also represented in the permanent collections of numerous public national and regional galleries including the National Gallery of Australia, Tamworth Regional Art Gallery, New England Regional Art Museum, and Coffs Harbour regional Art Gallery. His work has been shown and sold in commercial galleries from all major capital cities of Australia and is in numerous private collections in Canada, USA, Japan, Singapore, China and Australasia.

Brendan McCumstie (1973) 出生于澳大利亚新南威尔士，目前在北京生活和工作。他有正式的体育、医学和心理学背景。McCumstie 的作品被众多金融机构收藏，并在许多国家和地区的公共画廊的永久收藏中展出，包括 the National Gallery of Australia、Tamworth Regional Art Gallery、New England Regional Art Museum、Coffs Harbour regional Art Gallery 等。他的作品曾在澳大利亚所有首都城市的主要商业画廊展出和销售，并在加拿大、美国、日本、新加坡、中国和大洋洲的众多私人收藏中展出。

Chinese poetry in translation

Zuo Fei

A resident of Beijing and university English teacher, runs a WeChat platform that introduces foreign poetry to Chinese readers. She writes poems and essays. In 2004 she started making poetry in English, but it was not until 2016 that shewas actively involved in translation. She was born in 1970 in Zhejiang, and gotan MA degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2000.

Zuo Fei 是一位来自北京的大学英语老师，在她自己的微信公众号上经常向中国读者介绍外国诗歌，她自己也撰写相关论文和创作诗歌。2004年，她开始写英文诗，但是直到2016年才活跃于诗歌翻译领域。1970年，Zuo Fei生 于浙江，2000年获得北京外国语大学硕士学位。
