Inter-Programme Transfer Exercise

Dear Students,


Applications for programme transfer are processed once a year. Those who are interested to transfer to another programme effective from Semester 1 of 2020-21 Academic Year are invited to join the briefing session on 12 February 2020. Please also observe the application procedures and guidelines listed below.


Briefing Session:
Date: 12 February 2020 (Wednesday)
Time: 12:00 noon
Venue: WeChat group (QR code will be provided through E-mail on 9 February as it is only valid within 7 days)


Application Procedures:
Application Period: 10 February 2020 (9:30am) to 4 March 2020 (4:30pm)
Method: Apply online through UIC Portal https://p.uic.edu.hk/ (use desktop or laptop). Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.


Notification of Results:
Students will be informed of the results via email by early May 2020.


Guidelines:

1. A student is allowed to change his/her study programme only once in his/her four-year study at the College.


2. Students (especially those in Year 2 or Year 3 currently) who wish to transfer to another programme should take note the possibility of not able to graduate within four years and need to pay for additional tuition due to the fact that make up courses might be required by the new programme.


3. Students, a) with cGPA below 2.00, or b) in Year 4 or Concessional Year currently, or c) on suspension of study, or d) not registered in semester 2 of 2019-2020, are not eligible to apply for programme transfer.


4. Students approved for transferring to another programme should follow the designated curriculum and grading system, and be responsible for checking the programme requirements, making up any courses, unit or GPA deficiencies as a result of the transfer. The College is not obliged to alter its teaching schedules, courses offerings, or make any other arrangements to accommodate the needs arising from programme transfer.


5. Grades earned from all the courses taken in the former programme, without any exception, will be carried forward automatically to the new programme, and be included in the GPA calculation. The related courses will be marked with “#” and be recorded in the transcripts.

Online Course Add/Drop Exercise for 
Semester 2 of 2019-2020

Dear Students,


Please note that the exercise of Online Course Add/Drop for Semester 2 of 2019-20 is arranged as follows:


Test Run

1.  To ensure the smooth operation of the exercise, a "test run" for Course Add/Drop is scheduled from 16:00 10 Feb to 16:00 11 Feb 2020.


2. You are strongly encouraged to log in to the system (http://mis.uic.edu.hk/mis/) to learn and practice through simulation. All data input during the Test Run will be reset after the exercise. Please read the instructions carefully before the actual enrollment. The system will be refined according to the results of the testing.


3. If you spot any errors in the test run, please report to “ar_course@uic.edu.hk” before 4:00pm 11 Feb (Tue) 2020. Your assistance is highly appreciated.



Formal Run

4. The schedules for formal Course Add/Drop are as follows:


Stage I: For both ADD and DROP

   

Year 4 students

11:00, 13 Feb (Thu) - 16:00, 2 Mar (Mon) 2020

Years 1-3 students 

16:00, 13 Feb (Thu) - 16:00, 2 Mar (Mon) 2020

   

Stage II: System re-opens for DROP only

   

All students 

16:00, 5 Mar (Thu) - 16:00, 6 Mar (Fri) 2020


5. System only allows operation from 8:00am to 8:00pm each day during the whole Add/Drop exercise.


6. Please note that during the Stage II, the compulsory courses (Major Required Courses, General Education Core Courses, WPE Courses, etc.) are not allowed to drop.


7. This exercise is NOT opened to exchange students and concessional year students. 


8. Students can register courses (except Free Elective Courses) one year-level higher according to their studying year (i.e. Year-1 students can register year-1 and year-2 courses; Year-2 students can register year-1, -2 and -3 courses, and so forth), subject to fulfillment of the pre-requisite of the higher year-level courses. Students are advised to consult his/her Programme Director if in doubt about taking the higher year-level courses. 

 

Record of Add/Drop



9. Once you have added or dropped a course successfully in the system, an email will be sent to you immediately for record. You are strongly encouraged to check your UIC e-mail inbox regularly. The system will send you the same email within 30 minutes if it fails to reach you (e.g. mailbox over quota). Please make sure your email account functions well to receive emails.


10.  You are strongly advised to double check your course timetable to make sure of the course registration each time you have added or dropped a course.

UIC加减课常见问题答疑

(仅适用于2019-20学年第二学期)



1.问:学校安排加减课的目的是什么?

答:加减课的目的是供同学们调整个人课程修读计划(调整的原因可能有:之前修读的课程需重修;因休学、转专业、参加交换生项目或插班入学而缺少课程需补修;个人意愿想换班、想修更多课或减少修课等等)。同学如需重修、补修、加修或减修课程,都应当通过加减课来进行课程注册。


2.问:我看不到在页面哪里加课/我不知道怎么操作加课。

答:课程清单下方有搜索栏,可选择按课名、类别等进行搜索。可参考系统导读页面里的操作说明及课程清单。


3.问:为何我不能加某门课,系统显示“Forbid Add”

答:某些课程是有设置修读条件的,比如年级限制、专业限制、先修课程、或不参与在线加减等。具体的修读条件信息可参阅加减课系统导读页面里的课程清单及课程描述文件。


4.问:我想加修某门课程,但它的先修课程我没有通过,怎么办?

答:同学们应当按顺序修读课程。修读后修课程应当先修完其先修课程。


5.问:我想加的课显示已满怎么办?

答:如果某门课程名额已满,同学可在加减课期间不定期查看系统是否有余位可加(因为其他同学也正在加减调整)或尽早考虑选择其他合适的课程。


6.问:为什么减课时系统提示学分过低,或加课时系统提示超出学分无法操作?

答:学校规定学生除第八学期外,每个学期修读的课程量为至少15学分,最高21学分。如果系统检测到同学操作后超出以上范围,操作将受限。第八学期(即大四第二学期)的最低课程量不受上述15学分的限制。


7.问:我已跟专业课程主任谈过学习计划,并填写了Advising Form,然后我需要怎么做?

答:同学需根据自己的Advising Form的课程安排自行在系统上注册课程。如需变更原已商定的课程,同学应先征得课程主任的同意,并需在Add/Drop的第一阶段自行在线调整。


8.问:为何我加了一门课,课表里已经有了,但iSpace还没有出现?

答:iSpace系统由学校ITSC负责管理。目前该系统在同步MIS数据时存在一定时间的延迟,同学们加完课后需等待一段时间(约几小时或更长时间)才可以看到iSpace里面的更新。如有问题,可联系学校ITSC(07563620315/“itsc_support@uic.edu.hk”)咨询。


9.问:某门FE 课有此标注“For Minor Students Only”,如果不是该副修专业的同学可以加修有这种标注的课作为自己的FE课吗?

答:不可以,只有该副修专业的同学才可修读,但课程Introduction to Financial Accounting (for CCM and Minor Programme in Business only)除外。


10.问:为什么英语语言中心(ELC)的英语课不可以在系统在线加减?

答:目前ELC开设的必修课程(即GC课)的加减,因涉及到小班分班更具体的安排,学生需要电邮联系自己所属学部索取表格申请换班,加课或者减课。


11.问:为什么全人教育办公室(WPEO)的Emotional Intelligence(EI)课不可以在系统在线加减?

答:根据WPEO的安排,EI课程不参与在线Add/Drop。同学如需加减EI课程的,学生需要电邮联系自己所属学部索取表格申请换班,加课或者减课。
