Great Leap Brewing's 7th Annual Chili Cook Off!
Beijing F/B is full of traditions. Some have gone the way of the Dodo (RIP late nights at the Den and Amilal), but others are still alive and in full swing. Enter our Great Leap Brewing Back-Alley Chili Cook-Off, an annual tradition we have hosted since 2011. Held every Spring, our Back-Alley Chili Cook-Off brings together some of the best things that Beijing has to offer. Good weather (plus probably some catkins), 12-14 of the best homemade chili’s around and beer. Is there really much else?
This year’s Chili Cook-Off will take place on Saturday, April 21st from 2pm to 6pm at Great Leap Brewing Original #6. As in previous years, tickets are 150rmb to enter and include any two beers on our menu as well as all the chili you can eat. Also, please remember that your vote for best chili is immensely important! On each of your tickets will be a space to write in your favorite chili and hand into the bar. So after you drink your beers and get your fill, don’t forget to vote!
That being said, we are still looking for a few local competitors for our 7th annual competition. Do you have a chili recipe from your mom/dad/uncle/grandma back home that you always like to bring to parties? Or maybe you just like to cook and experiment? Well then this event is definitely for you. Cooks are allowed to compete in teams of two and receive the following: two 2018 Back-Alley Chili Cook-Off aprons, a 20L stainless steel cooking pot, all the beer you can drink during the event, and a chance to win one of our two coveted prizes (People’s Choice Winner – 888rmb gift card to Great Leap Brewing; Judges’ Choice Winner – 588rmb gift card to Great Leap Brewing). The only catch is you are only allowed to use ONE imported ingredient.The rest of the ingredients must be found here locally!
