Don't Hide Away! Two New Beers at GLB
Many of you might have noticed that the Three Door Tripel, Dan Cong Dark Ale, Honey Ma IPA, Reckless General IPA, and our other seasonal favorites have been quietly back on tap for a while now. However, for the demanding beer-drinkers who crave new brews, we are proud to introduce two of our newest creations, both which will be on tap this Friday, May 10th.
One of the new beers is the first collaboration beer between Great Leap Brewing and Left Hand Brewing Company. Yeah, that Left Hand. The legendary brewery that was founded in 1993 in Longmont, Colorado. Since then, it’s become one of the most popular breweries in the United States and has won 29 Great American Beer Festival medals, 11 World Beer Cup awards, and 9 European Beer Star awards. If you were at the BICBF, you might remember the energetic bearded guy – Left Hand’s COO, Chris Lennert - who served their Milk Stout Nitro and never-before released Flamingo Dreams Nitro, amongst some of their other famous beers.
So together we created The Hide Until Tuesday Nitro Red Stout, which was brewed with a hefty dose of raspberries and espresso coffee beans from the Suke Quto farm in the Guji Zone of Ethiopia and roasted by Allegro Coffee in Thornton, Colorado, not far from the Left Hand brewery. This 5.8 percent ABV stout has a beautiful scarlet hue and a clear body with strong notes of lightly roasted coffee on the nose. The subtle tartness of the raspberry is quickly balanced by both the coffee and smooth nitro mouthfeel, resulting in a complex yet easy-drinking beer. The name of this beer is after an anecdote from a time when a psychopath was hunting the owners of Left Hand, and the local sheriff instructed them to “hide until Tuesday.” True or not, it’s a good name. Fortunately for you all, you don’t have to wait until Tuesday to try this beautiful beer. It will be on tap for 40rmb at all three Great Leap Brewing locations starting this Friday.
The second brew is our new India Pale Lager – the Tiger Crown Admiral IPL – which at 5 percent ABV is an easy-drinking beer brewed with Simcoe hops from United States. It has a pleasantly melon-like, yet earthy herbal and piney aroma and goes down extremely smooth. If you loved the Devout Admiral IPL we released last October, we highly recommend you try this one. It’ll be on tap at all three locations on Friday for 30rmb. The name for this beer comes from Deng Zilong, a vice admiral in the Ming Dynasty navy, who was nicknamed the “Tiger Crown Taoist” and after a long career died alongside Korean Admiral Yi Sun-sin at the battle of Noryang in Korea, where he is still greatly honored to this day.
For us, the best way to avoid the annoying catkins is to hide in, sit at the bar, sip a draft beer (or two), and enjoy the weather.
