American Beer Buffet and Pizza Party!
Get ready, everybody, because on Saturday, May 25th at Great Leap Brewing Lido, we will be hosting our third annual American Beer Buffet Pizza Party. We will have over 40 brands of American beers available for you to choose from, and 200rmb gets you access to as many as you can drink during the allotted time (12pm to 5pm, while supplies last) as well as all the pizza you can eat. We’re not even going to ask, we know there isn’t anything better to do that day in Beijing if you enjoy craft beer and pizza. And who doesn’t enjoy craft beer and pizza?
Most of these beers are not only difficult, if not impossible, to find anywhere else in China, but are also hotly sought-after within the United States as well. Beautiful, independent, delicious American craft. Let us walk you through five of the fabulous brews that we highly recommend. (Please note that many of these beers are in extremely limited quantity. Once they are gone, they are gone.)
Calabaza Blanca by Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales is a 4.8% ABV white ale that is brewed in Belgium’s bière blanche tradition - spiced with orange peel and coriander, and aged in the oak for two months with refreshing tartness and a wonderfully dry finish. The name means “white pumpkin” in Spanish, by the way.
Blue Sunday Sour by New Holland is an American Wild Ale with 7% ABV. This beer is a unique anniversary libation, heritage-blended from their barrel-soured beers, with sweet, barley wine dark fruit and a touch of coffee and red wine notes. It’s balanced with caramel sweetness, layered with a big malt backbone and oak flavor, and finishes tart and refreshing.
Mash & Coconut by The Bruery in California is a classic bourbon barrel-aged barley wine ale, but with one pound per gallon of coconut added. This 13% ABV beer has complex coconut and vanilla character as well as extensive whiskey aromas from the maturation in bourbon barrels. This beer is still a treat for you in early summer. Who says barley wines are just for winter?
Free Bird is brewed by Begyle Brewing from Chicago, Illinois. This event promises to be warm, so why not cool off with a beautiful American Pale Ale from Begyle? Their Free Bird APA is made with all American hops, providing you with a hoppy yet fruity character that will make for easy drinking as well as cool you off on a hot summer’s day.
Eclipse is FiftyFifty’s flagship beer. With tastes of dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, and coconut, it is balanced with hops, tobacco, dark dried fruit, and toffee. With a moderate alcohol spike and a sharp tannin edge, it warms you up and is a perfect dessert beer to put the icing on the cake of a perfect, craft-beer filled afternoon.
If you are unsure about our selections, let us ensure you that with our more than forty selections of different American craft beer available, there will be something there that suits your tastes. Everything from hoppy IPAs, tart sours, roasted stouts, fruit beers, crisp pilsners, and everything in between. Here’s our full list:
