Remembering the fallen superstars | Chitchat

April 1 is the anniversary of Leslie Cheung's death. Fourteen years ago, suffering from severe depression, Cheung jumped off a high rise building in Hong Kong. A resplendent superstar fell that day.

The delightful melody of Monica still resounds, the lean profile in Farewell My Concubine still shines, but Leslie Cheung will never hear the hurrah from his fans.

But we won't forget him. Another singer in Hong Kong, Eason Chan, lamented his departure with the song Don't Ask for Help. In March, Hong Kong star Leo Ku held the concert "salute to dear Leslie" and it was watched by more than 100,000 fans on an online platform.

You may not forget his somber eyes and his gentle voice. You may feel mournful when recalling his death. To be honest, we still remember him with much affection.

Besides Leslie Cheung, there are many stars that have left us forever but we love them as ever before. Memories about them always touch the softest part of our hearts.

Bringing dreams and passion to the world, John Lennon was shot by an insane fan. It is so ironic that the man who appealed to us to "give peace a chance" was killed by a violent weapon. Rock 'n' Roll lost its soul because of his death.

Michael Jackson, "the king of pop", was an innocent and sensitive man. He revolutionized pop music, driving his fans all over the world crazy with the moon walk. His abrupt death in 2009 shocked all of us.

The charming star in the film Fast & Furious, Paul Walker, suffered a tragic car accident and died in a sports car. The all-conquering star on screen finally could not escape the arbitration of destiny.

These great stars have disappeared, yet our memories of them will not fade. We might be melancholy, but no need to be sorrowful.
