Many college students have mixed feelings about canteen food. Although the kitchen staff carefully prepare sundry dishes all day long, students tend to get bored with the monotony of eating similar dishes every day.

On June 5, two cooks from Sichuan University visited Fudan University in Shanghai to whip up 12 types of spicy dishes for the students there. The following week, Fudan's kitchen staff returned the favor, preparing a menu of Shanghai cuisine for the students in Chengdu.

The culinary exchange turned out to be a huge success. Not only did it whet the students' appetites, it created such a frenzy that some suggested preventing the visiting cooks from leaving!

Each group of kitchen staff had brought with them a selection of dishes to represent their respective cities and local styles of cooking.

The food, being so unlike what the students normally ate, was hugely popular. Many waited in long lines, eager for a taste.

This is not the first time that university canteens have caught the eye of social media, however. Just a few months ago, a robotic chef capable of cutting noodles became a celebrity among netizens.

From time to time, university kitchen staff also create some strange dishes filled with unorthodox combinations, which can inspire heated discussions on social media.

It seems these cooks are working really hard to make their dishes appealing! What is the food in your canteen like? Do you enjoy it? Share your stories with us!
