They're back! Alipay's personalized spending reports!

It's that time of year again, when Alipay decides to remind us just how much we've been spending, and on what. In fact, the platform's annual personalized spending reports are pretty much the only thing we've seen in our WeChat Moments lately!

Almost everyone seems to be asking themselves "how did I spend so much?" And more than a few people we know not only didn't manage to save anything, but ran up small mountains of debt instead!

That being said, the reports are a good way of getting a sneak peek into other people's musical tastes, spending habits and the like.

Alipay also uses the information to predict what will be hot in 2018, based on last year's spending.

In an era, that's dominated by technology and the internet, Chinese people have become used to paying with their phones instead of using cash. On the one hand, this makes our lives much more convenient, but it can also blind us to how much we're spending! 

So today, let's dig deep and talk about personal expenditure.
