Even though the term we introduced in last week's chitchat was "invisible poverty-stricken population", many called themselves as visible ones. Some of them even said they were happy being poor, because their spiritual life was rich and fulfilling. Some, meanwhile, offered their suggestions on how to get rid of poverty-stricken situation. Let us quickly cut to the chase and view some chosen comments!

Reasons for being poor

@小土

I'm a invisible poverty-stricken person, because of my weird interest in stationery. I collect all kinds of paper tapes, notebooks, watercolors, etc. Although I know I will not use many of the items, I can't stop buying them. I spend around 1,000 yuan on stationery every month.

@曹腾飞

Honestly speaking, I'm one of the invisible poverty-stricken person, because I still haven't bought a house. Property prices are rising far quicker than my salary. I regret not buying a house few years ago when I had saved some money which could have paid for the down payment for an apartment.

@_花椰_

Every star chaser is an invisible poverty-stricken person. They spend too much money on their idols.

@Beyoncé

I am working as a teaching assistant, a low-paid job with only the basic salary. But I still bought myself some dope Adidas shoes last week, and paid without asking the price (I already checked the price stealthily). These days, I have reduced my breakfast from 3 baozi to 2. Who cares? I eat my baozi wearing Adidas!

Poor but happy

@Leopard Leopard Leopard

Everyone has his own interest. I like to go to concerts and DJ performances. It costs me money every month. But not many DJ I like come to China so often. Although it costs me 200-400 yuan a month (not every month) to go to DJ's performance, it's still worth it!

@找海的

Actually, most of my income has gone on traveling since I graduated from school. I have traveled to more than 20 cities and autonomous regions in the past 3 years, which brought me so many wonderful memories and photos. Sometimes I wonder how things would be if I had saved the money. But I don’t regret those snow mountains and grand canyons I have seen.

How to get rid of the situation

@岗

文章刻画出了年轻人的生活态度,开源节流才能解决贫困,当然更重要的是开源,所以需要我们去创造,开拓创造才能摆脱贫。

@Arsalan, 龙轩

If you look around, there are so many people who don't have enough food to eat. Instead of buying these expensive products, we could eat simple, live simple and do charity. The happiness after giving charity is much more than buying expensive products.

@Weitung kuan

Maybe there is only way to stop being a poverty-stricken person — cut my hands please!!

@A durable thread

It's a ubiquitous phenomenon of people spending more than earning. In my opinion, that's a wrong financial habit arising from shortage of in-depth planning. What about mapping out specific personal budget and making sure that all targets are predefined. Because the longer we're working on personal financial plans, the better we'd manage avoiding unnecessary spending. The earlier the poverty-stricken situation leaves us, the brighter the days will we embrace.

@Sandy Liu

I am definitely one of the poverty-stricken people. But at least I have tried my best to improve my income by doing some part-time jobs such as translation and selling teeth whitening products.

@追着脚步走

This morning, my husband said he would buy me a Coach bag on my birthday. I felt excited. But after reading this article, I calmed down and sent a message to my husband saying that there's no need to be so luxurious. Ha-ha!

Visible poverty-stricken people

@芋头

I am a visible poverty-stricken person. However, I seldom buy luxurious things as I do not have enough money. I am still poor as my salary is not high and I have many daily necessities to buy. Sometimes if there is an emergency, I may neither have much deposit, nor anyone to depend on.

How rational cosumers think

@随心-随缘

I am sure that I don't belong to the type of people who make ends meet. I can't stand the anxiety when I have no money in my pocket. So I hate to constantly buy things, especially in those so-called shopping festivals.

@西域舌耕

Of course, I am light years away from an invisible poverty-stricken person. Although I am an ordinary English teacher in Korla whose wallet is not admirably fat. As a post-1960s, I will never live beyond my means. Being not a shopping rat, I will never buy luxurious things. By the way, my greatest feather in my cap is the fact that my only daughter is not a victim of irrational purchases.

Whatever your views on shopping, you should always be responsible. Making sure that you can always clear your debt is the bottom line. Remember, you should neither depend on your parents to support your living expense for your whole life, nor owe the debt till the police knock on your door. So now, try to make a budget and live without anxiety or guilt.
