Most members of China's post-80s and post-90s generations will be familiar with Li Hua, the character who appears as the protagonist in many of the country's English examinations.
Li is a student of indeterminate age and gender, who is forever asking for help with a project or advice for writing an article.
President of the student union at Red Star High/Middle/Primary School, Li is a staple of English writing tests all the way through to the national college entrance exam.
Nicknamed the "King of English Writing", Li is reckoned by netizens to be the child of Li Lei and Han Meimei, two other fictional characters who appear in students' English text books.
