韩国集会组织者:感染病毒治不好没关系,我们的目的地是天堂
A video clip of Republic of Korea's conservative pastor Jun Kwang-hoon's speech sparked public backlash amid mounting fears of potential spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Over the weekend, Jun pushed ahead with a massive rally at Gwanghwamun Plaza in central Seoul despite the government's ban on rallies at three major public squares in the city center to fight the spreading novel coronavirus.
During a rally on Sunday, Jun told the group of followers: "It is patriotic to die from illness … those who suffer from illness will be healed if they attend the rally."
The Seoul Central District Court on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Jun Kwang-hoon, chief of the Christian Council of Korea.
Regarding Jun's remarks, Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon questioned his sanity and said he would require the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to ban and disperse the rallies.
