XLIS Performing Arts encourages students to become informed, reflective and critical practitioners of the arts. In addition, we hope students develop their knowledge and potential as musicians both personally and collaboratively so that they can enjoy lifelong engagement with the arts. To support students cultivate their talents and interest in the arts and performance, we offer ensemble groups such as Primary Choir, Violin and Cello String Ensemble, MYP Band, MYP Choir, Drama, and Dance programs at XLIS.
西安梁家滩国际学校表演艺术部鼓励学生成为有见识、会反思、懂批判的艺术人才。我们希望学生能够独立或以团队的形式提升艺术素养与艺术鉴赏能力，通过欣赏艺术来发现美、欣赏美，提升幸福感。为了发掘学生在表演艺术上的潜力，我校设有小学部合唱团、小提琴和大提琴弦乐团、中学部乐队、中学部合唱团、戏剧和舞蹈等不同类型的社团。

Mr. Pyoung Gang Kim is dedicated to inspiring musicians and audiences through a passion for musical excellence, Mr. Kim maintains an active career as a highly-sought-after music educator, conductor, and clinician.Mr. Kim is a candidate of Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting at University of Washington now. Mr. Kim also was served as the Director of Choral Activities at Kentucky University and Morehead State University in the United States.
Pyoung Gang Kim先生，美国华盛顿大学合唱指挥专业音乐艺术博士在读，是广受欢迎的音乐教育家、指挥家及实践家。曾担任美国肯塔基大学及莫尔黑德州立大学合唱活动负责人，并指导了西雅图儿童合唱团及青年管弦乐队的演出。
Hye Jin Yeom

Hye Jin Yeom has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in China, South Korea, and throughout the United States. Her numerous competition honors include first prize in the PCTS Music competition, first prize in the KMTA chamber music and piano ensemble competition, and first prize in the American Protégé International Piano and String Competition. Ms. Yeom made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2015.
Hye Jin Yeom曾在中国、韩国和美国担任独奏家和室内音乐家，曾获得PCTS音乐比赛的一等奖，KMTA室内乐和钢琴合奏比赛的一等奖，美国Protégé国际钢琴和弦乐比赛的一等奖。2015年在卡内基音乐厅演出。

Rebecca Arden holds a Master of Music from the University of North Texas, Denton. She has over 4 years' experience as a music teacher experience at International schools.

Lars Jefferson has 16 years of experience and has taught in Oregon, China and South Korea. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Arts in French from CSU, Stanislaus and a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies from SUNY College, Buffalo. In addition to formal education, Mr. Jefferson holds certificates in Orff-Schulwerk levels 1-3 and has completed the Orff Jazz course.

Michael Skillern holds a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance and Instrumental Conducting from the University of South Florida. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Georgia State University. Michael has taught band, general music, and percussion in many different settings throughout the United States and China. Michael Skillern is also a regular percussion performer. He is the 2019 First Prize Percussion Winner of the North International Music Competition (SWI), has held positions in many professional ensembles, and has presented solo Percussion recitals across the USA, China and Malaysia.
迈克尔·斯基尔恩，佛罗里达大学的打击乐表演和器乐演奏音乐硕士，乔治亚州立大学音乐教育学士，曾在美国和中国等多地教授音乐。他获得了北部国际音乐比赛（SWI）的2019年打击乐一等奖，曾在许多专业乐团中担任职务，并在美国，中国和马来西亚举办了独奏打击乐演奏会。

Performing arts?
什么是表演艺术？
Performing arts is inclusive of all forms of art where artists use their voices, and bodies to convey a message or artistic expression. It is different from visual arts, in which an artist uses paint, canvas and other various materials to create art objects. Performing arts express opinions, emotions, feelings or tastes through means of performance such as theatre, dance, music and more. Any arts or skills that require a performance in front of a public audience are classified as a performing art.
表演艺术是指艺术家通过声音和肢体语言传递信息的一种艺术表现形式。在视觉艺术中，艺术家使用颜料、帆布和其它材料来创作艺术品。表演艺术则不同于视觉艺术，表演艺术可以通过戏剧、舞蹈、音乐等多种形式表达观点、情绪及思想。总的来说，任何在公众面前表演的艺术行为都可以称之为表演艺术。

The arts are a universal form of human expression and a unique way of knowing that engages us in effective, imaginative and productive activities. Thus, learning through the arts helps us to explore, shape and communicate our sense of identity and individuality. It also encourages our sense of belonging and community through the recognition of identities.
艺术是人类表达的一种普遍形式，也是一种使我们参与有影响力的，想象力的和生产性活动的独特方式。艺术学习可以帮助我们探索、塑造和表达我们的同一性和个性，并且通过认知自我来激发归属感和社区意识。
Therefore, the aim of performing arts is to encourage and enable students to create and present art, develop skills specific to their chosen discipline, engage in a process of creative exploration and self-discovery, and deepen their understanding of the world.
表演艺术的目的是鼓励学生创造和展示艺术；发展学生的艺术表演技能；激发学生以创新的形式探索和发现自我；加深学生对世界的认识。

The biggest benefit of art education is creativity. Creativity is the foundation of the arts and it permeates the skill and structure of art work. During XLIS performing arts classes, we enable students to develop not only practical skills but also creative critical thinking strategies. Therefore, the creative process is as important as the product, and students will approach this process differently. Students are encouraged to think creatively in the process of learning music, dance, and drama without fear of failure.
艺术教育最大的好处就是激发创造力。创造力是艺术的基础，它渗透于艺术作品的技巧和结构中。在西安梁家滩国际学校的表演艺术课上，我们注重培养学生的实践技能，引导学生形成创造性的批判性思维。创造的过程与成果一样重要，学生将以不同的方式进行创造。我们鼓励学生在学习音乐、舞蹈和戏剧的过程中大胆进行创造性思考，不惧怕失败。

Students gain valuable life skills by learning the importance of feedback, both positive and constructive. The arts also provide a place of solitude, where students can immerse themselves without interference from their environment. This also provides a space for students to engage in self-reflection – a vital skill for life after school.

Performing arts is a discipline that encourages teamwork, whether that is in writing, creating or during the act of performing. Students have the opportunity to engage in creative collaboration in ways that are unique to the performing arts.
表演艺术是一门鼓励团队合作的学科。无论是写作、创作还是表演过程中，学生都有机会以表演艺术特有的方式进行创意合作。
Communication
学会沟通
Communication skills can be accelerated through performing arts, as students learn to use verbal and non-verbal techniques in new ways to deliver their message. Some students also find new levels of confidence through performing arts.
学生可以通过语言和非语言的多种表演艺术形式来提升沟通技巧、丰富交流方式，提升自信心。

Secondary performing arts has hosted International Band Festival today with students from Australia. The aim of this event is to embrace students risk-taking through exploration, collaboration and creation that intentionally integrates education and performance.
