A Guangzhou trolley got a colorful makeover on Tuesday, courtesy of 10 graffiti artists from China, Germany and Japan. The trolley, which runs between Canton Tower and Wanshengwei, is now covered in a collage of vivid imagery and will be the city’s first mobile art piece.
The painting session was organized by Guangzhou Street Car Co Ltd, according to China Daily, and aimed to promote arts and culture amongst Guangzhouers.
Of the Chinese artists that participated in the event, five are from Guangdong and one hails from Chengdu, according to Jungle, a fulltime artist that contributed to the trolley project.
The foreign artists that helped decorate the trolley are expected to return home tomorrow, and, according to Jungle, the team plans to tag a wall near Chebei metro station this afternoon as a send-off.
The artists are hopeful more opportunities to work with government organizations and companies will pop up in the future.
“We want to do more for the government if they like our work and want to do this again,” said Jungle, 27. “This is just the first time, we can negotiate new projects in the future.”
