A Look at Gung Ho's Latest Delicious Deals
Ahead of this year's Pizza Cup and Festival, we are serving up bite-sized details about this year's participants in a series we call Pizza Mania. We continue with the reigning champion, Gung Ho!
Famous for gourmet pizza that'll set your salivary glands into overdrive, Gung Ho! slices were tasty enough to win the biggest portion of the pie in last year's Pizza Cup votes.
Gung Ho! New Zealand Venison Pizza, their latest pie for the fall season
Gung Ho! is now making a big push to retain their Pizza Cup championship with a new autumn menu (which will be available from next week). Rich Akers, who handles the restaurant's branding and marketing, says the success of its New Zealand lamb pizza has prompted Gung Ho! to create several more Kiwi-themed pies for this new fall menu. Among them are the New Zealand venison and Kiwi dessert pizzas.
Other new New Zealand-inspired menu items include their new mini sausage rolls (a longtime favorite down under) and their venison salad also made with New Zealand farm-raised venison, avocado, apple slices, onion, over a bed of mixed lettuce, topped with flax seeds and feta cheese, and served with a plum-raspberry sauce.
Gung Ho!'s 2015 Pizza Cup feat can be attributed to a few factors: unique selections and combinations of high quality ingredients, well regarded delivery services, a socially conscious operating procedure, and constantly evolving menu to suit local and foreign tastes.
Gung Ho!'s new sausage rolls
Last year, co-founder John O'Loghlen told us about Gung Ho's then most unique pizza, the New Zealand lamb pizza with Greek mint yogurt sauce, which as he explained, was "topped with imported New Zealand lamb, a bit of a change from your local chuan'r protein!" We're also fans of their roasted eggplant pizza (made with eggplant, peppers, mushrooms, and fresh basil on a spinach pesto base, roasted and then topped with a traditional Chinese "sanbei" sauce, according to their menu), and their pumpkin and sweet potato (featuring roasted pumpkin, Chinese sweet potato, and spinach).
The beloved pizzeria also has a few ongoing deals to get all our cheese fiends to drop by one of their restaurants for an indulgent meal. The best of the bunch is an ongoing weekly promotion called Two-For-One Tuesdays, an aptly named deal that allows customers to buy one pie and get a second one free (though it's an instore-only offer at their Sanlitun, Lido, and Shuangjing locations). There's also an enticing VIP card offer for serious cheese devotees.
