Wooftop Party: Beijing's Best Dog-Friendly Patios

2017-04-28 Robynne T. theBeijinger

With all the excellent weather we've been having recently, our thoughts are naturally turning to brunches, afternoons, or happy hours spent on one of Beijing's many pleasant patios. But what if you're out and about with your canine in tow? Below we've compiled a list of some of our favorite dog-friendly patios in Beijing. If in doubt about whether you can bring your four-legged friend, be sure to call ahead.

Don't leave your dogs at home!

Bistrot B, Rosewood Beijing
It may come as a surprise but dogs are very much welcome on the patio at classy French restaurant Bistrot B. Make the most of said patio at brunch, when you can choose two courses from a selection of French-inspired dishes and brunch classics for RMB 310. Rosewood even go as far as to offer a "Pamper Your Pet" staycation package, which gets you an overnight stay in a suite plus grooming services for your pooch (or cat). Pets on this package even get a special menu at Bistrot B.

Napa
At Napa your pup isn't just limited to the second-floor terrace – they are welcome in the whole restaurant. However, you'll definitely want to spend most of your time on the terrace where there is plenty of room for dogs to run around while you tuck into healthy yet hearty salads and creative brunch dishes such as eggs Benedict with Laoganma-infused hollandaise.

Moka Bros Solana
Go for a brisk walk in Chaoyang Park then head over to Moka Bros' Solana location and grab a spot on their sunny, south-facing terrace. We're sure you're familiar with Moka Bros by now, so suffice to say it's a good spot for healthy salads, power bowls, and smoothies anytime of the day.

Taco Bar
The Taco Bar logo features a silhouette of the owner's dog so it's no surprise that dogs are welcome on the patio. It does tend to get pretty busy once the weather brightens up, so be sure to book in advance.

Plan B
Shuangjing's biggest terrace is also dog-friendly, and home to numerous mutts most days. Now you can enjoy your chili fries alongside your best friend (although we don't encourage sharing them).

Tribe Organic (all three locations)
Tribe's inclusive attitude to healthy food and lifestyles extends to dogs, which are welcome at the outside spaces at all three Tribe locations. The patio at the Lido branch is the biggest and can be combined with a walk in pretty Lido Park.

Village Cafe, The Opposite House
We're partial to escaping the office for an afternoon working on the patio at Village Cafe in The Opposite House so we were pleased to learn that dogs are welcome, too. We particularly like Village Cafe's breakfast offerings but there is a good value two/three-course lunch, too.

Great Leap #6
Dogs are welcome on the patio at all of Great Leap's location but we've got a soft spot for the original on Doujiao Hutong. The converted siheyuan courtyard gives dogs space to run around but also keeps them contained.

Palms L.A. Kitchen Sanyuanqiao
The Sanyuanqiao branch of Palms L.A. Kitchen has an extensive outdoor seating area which is completely open to dogs. Humans will enjoy their spicy mashup of Korean and Mexican flavors.

Zarah
The café of choice for Gulou's laptop warriors allows dogs in their sheltered courtyard. It's not a huge space but it's a pleasant place to pass a couple of hours. Grab a coffee or one of their homemade lemonades.

Ramo
While we wait for the higher forces to have their way with one of our favorite streets, we can recommend dog owners to try out Ramo's outdoor seating area (they're also welcome inside). Fangjia Hutong views and great pizza with your dogs, what more could you want?

The Local
Dogs are allowed on the patio and the balcony outside of The Local, and The Local's owners' two adorable French bulldogs also occasionally make an appearance here, especially once the sun comes out.

Toast at The Orchid
Located within The Orchid hotel and has a lovely terrace with views over the surrounding hutongs. The brunch, which is served seven days a week, is particularly popular. Be sure to call in advance to reserve a spot on the terrace for you and your dog.

We do not condone dressing your dogs like this ... unless it's in the name of burgers

Dogs are also allowed at the Beijinger 2017 Burger Cup!
Your furry friends are allowed to come to our Burger Cup on May 20-21 at Galaxy Soho, although bear in mind that it will be busy. If your pet doesn't like crowds, why not come early as soon as the fun starts at 11am?
