Expat Nathan Waters in Critical Condition, Great Leap Fundraiser
Having suffered a serious stroke on thursday of last week (Jun 1), Beijing expat Nathan Waters remains on life support and in critical condition at Beijing United Family Hospital.

Originally from Kentucky, USA, Waters has been living and working as a teacher in Beijing for five years. His friends describe him as "a loyal, steadfast friend who loves to travel, talk about baseball, and to drink a pint at his favorite local bar and spin a yarn."
Waters' stroke last Thursday led to a brain bleed, and doctors have been working on him tirelessly since his admission, taking him into surgery on two separate occasions to relieve the pressure on his brain. His incredible team of doctors is doing everything they can, his friends tell us, but as most of us know, this care comes at a hefty price in Beijing.

That's why, this coming Saturday (June 10), at Great Leap Brewery #6 (the hutong location) there will be an opportunity for his friends, associates, and well-wishers to come together to support their friend, colleague, and, according to friend Mark Porter, "the teller of the shaggiest of shaggy dog stories."
Great Leap will also contribute two kegs of Nate's favorite beer, Honey Ma, of which all sales will go towards helping Nathan's family take him home. Additional donations can also be made at the event.
If you can't make it on Saturday, you can also send donations via this Go Fund Me: gofundme.com/239sv-bring-nate-home, set up by Waters' friends for Waters and his family.
