Beijing Beats: J-Fever, DJ Sodeyama, and More

2017-10-11 Mary Kate W. theBeijinger

Beijing Beats brings you the best in Beijing nightlife each weekend so that you can soothe the woes of a long and stressful week with some out-of-body gyrating and some experiences you'd rather forget come Monday. Check the weekend's full list of nightlife events here: thebeijinger.com/events.

After a week away, followed by a week back at work, we're sure you're rested and ready to turn up once again. But with the holiday crowds trickling back in, and "security" for the
upcoming Plenum throwing a wrench in many local clubs' and bars' operations this weekend, we admit: the pickin's slim. There are still a few things to see and do and dance to this weekend, though, so don't let The Man keep you down, man.

Thursday, Oct 12

J-Fever with Major and Fishdoll
Touted in their event description as being "China’s most well-known rap artist" (... okay), J-Fever has at the very least performed in locations all over the world, including in LA and in the Royal London Theatre. He's been active in the scene for years and that hard work has paid off. His sound is clean and accessible, he'll make you dance without pushing many boundaries. Check out in YouTube his song "Pee Inside the World of Mortals" (not a typo, VPN required). He will appear at Blue Note tomorrow with producer and pianist Major and electronic music artist Fishdoll. RMB 180. 7.30pm. Blue Note

Friday, Oct 13

Ted Dancin' (Club Paradise) DJ Set
Co-founder of Club Paradise Ted Dancin' takes to the decks at Fang's new Jiaodaokou spot for a night of craft cocktails and global disco and funk from all corners of the globe. Free. 9pm. Fang Bar

Peng: Dance With Us
Not content with traditional parties, Peng Label prides itself on challenging the predetermined concepts of what a club night "should be." For their Dance With Us night, DJs Pancake Lee and friends shatter the barrier created by the DJ booth by bringing the equipment into the middle of the dancefloor, providing direct access to feel and action around them. Price TBC. 10pm. The Bar at Migas

Saturday, Oct 14

An On Bast
Polish electronic music producer and live performer An On Bast (pictured at top) has just released her EP Welcoming The Sun on China record label Ran Music. In October, she will embark on her first China tour, bringing her dynamic and energetic full-hardware live-set to Dada Beijing on Oct 14. One of the most exciting local live electronic bands, Hielektormen from Ran Groove, will play alongside her. Price TBA. 10pm. Dada

Konekt Asia Series 11: DJ Sodeyama
From early Intro Music Festival to Acupuncture Records, DJ Sodeyama is a name with a strong connection to Beijing’s techno scene thanks to his "special skills." Konekt Asia welcomes DJ Sodeyama back to Lantern on Saturday, with support from boss WengWeng, Youga from Tianjin, and Konekt Asia’s resident chef Ruichih Metaphysics. Price TBA. 10pm. Lantern
