Classic Movie Tuesday
Ah, what could possibly warm you up in the icy winter cold better than romance from the 50's? The closed-mouth kisses, dramatic eyebrows, and plenty of longing gazes are sure to spice up your life and give you the warm fuzzies of days gone by. Head down to Pop-Up Beijing for a screening of the war time romance, From Here to Eternity. Snuggle up in the blanket with a steaming mug of tea (or a glass of wine, if you can manage to drink in moderation) and sigh together or wipe each other's tears away while the captain's wife is falling in love with another. Free. 7.30pm. Pop-Up Beijing.

New Beginner Flamenco Class
The cozy and warm evenings with the cold winds and smog raging outside ... More hot chocolate, more sleep, more movie nights, and fewer days at the pool. It can be nice at first, but winter blues are very real. To keep the gloom and your growing "winter coat" of hibernation-fueling fat from growing too much, get out there and get spicy with flamenco classes – a great way to make friends and burn calories without stepping on the dreaded treadmill. Lucky you, Portacones Flamenco School is putting together a new beginner's class that's open for all. Bring some fire into your life, and not just the fire under your hot pot. Price TBA. 7pm. Portacones Flamenco School.

A Night of Organ
It's not too often that we get to hear organ music, which only makes it more festive once we do. The amount of switches and pedals awes any piano player and the size of the giant instrument will impress everyone else. To get your share of holiday cheer while enjoying a rare treat, free up your Thursday night, don your velvet cape and head to the National Center For The Performing Arts (NCPA) to hear Bach, David Briggs, Roque da Conceição, and more on the organ. RMB 50-380. 7:30pm. NCPA.

Li Gaoyang Trio
The jazz never stops on the shores of Houhai. Overlooking the waters and lights of the busy lake, East Shore Jazz Cafe is inviting everyone to sit back and feast on food for the soul. Li Gaoyang returns to the little venue that could, bringing his impressive repertoire and a couple of friends. Already a sax man by the age of eight, he was the first to be given the award of Outstanding Chinese Instrumentalist at the Chinese Music Awards and has performed with jazz greats worldwide. His saxophone mastery is accompanied by drums and bass. Free. 10pm. East Shore Jazz Cafe.

2017 International Snowboarding World Cup
The mountains may be far, and snow may be even further, but that doesn't mean Beijingers don't get to enjoy winter sports. While the blue marks on your body from your last skiing trip heal, get inspired to return to the slopes. For all those adrenaline junkies or the simply curious, the Snowboarding World Cup will be happening at the Workers' Stadium on Saturday. The collection of international and local snowboarders will be going wild and seriously showing off their skills and leaving you with a question: "Can my body do that as well?" RMB 199-399. 6pm. Workers Stadium.

Sunday, Nov 26

Zero Waste Festival
When a simple takeaway breakfast consisting of baozi and some pickled cabbage leave you with at least four plastic bags, you can't help but wonder, is there a way to avoid producing this much garbage? The Zero Waste Festival will not only tell you, but also show you the way to a less-littered life that will leave you with fewer trips to the bins and help the planet to not become a dumpster. The Zero Waste Festival will feature exhibitions, a recycling stand, and a food market,  as well as talks and workshops during which both kids and adults can learn how to make things from recycled items. Dust off that Tupperware and bring your own containers to the market and be treated to discounts and specials from the vendors. Free. 10am. The Grand Summit.
