Made in North Korea: Graphics from Everyday Life in the DPRK
Having spent 25 years traveling to the DPRK, British author and guide Nicholas Bonner has amassed one of the world’s largest collections of memorabilia outlining the evolution of North Korean graphic design over the past few decades. Join Bonner tonight as part of the Bookworm's ongoing International Literary Festival as he walks the audience through the items – from stamps and postcards to food labels, luggage tags, and cigarette packs – that he has since curated and laid out in
Made in North Korea, published last year. Bonner will be in conversation with Tomasz Sajewicz, Asia Correspondent for the Polish Public Radio. RMB 60. 8pm. The Bookworm

Paul McCarthy: 'Innocence'
Opening this past Saturday, M Woods exhibits 43 video works filmed during the span of over 40 years by the playful yet cutting LA artist Paul McCarthy. Known for his warped take on mainstream American media, McCarthy’s art often features recognizable characters that eschew their usual smiles-all-around veneer for something altogether more twisted and unsettling.

Liu Kai Piano Trio
Liu Kai is a lecturer in Dalcroze eurhythmics teaching at the Chinese Central Conservatory of Music. Having studied the piano, clavichord, and harpsichord with Swiss keyboard master Michel Kiener, Liu has gone on to work with the likes of the Artefact Jazz Quintet, Ensemble Fratres, and the CCOM choir. Liu does inspiring teaching work that with marginalized children in Wangjing.

2018 Exhibition of Contemporary Women’s Art in China
The Yanhuang Art Museum presents this “research exhibition” into up-and-coming contemporary female artists. The theme of Vision/Realm emphasizes the close relationship between art and reality, and focuses on the current situation of women’s art against the background of globalization, intergenerational transformation, and traditional inheritance and features 27 female artists.

Vegan Movie Night: 'Okja'
As part of their Vegan Movie Night series, Camera Stylo in partnership with the Beijing-based animal rescue organization A Voice For Animals show Bong Joon-ho's tale of Mija and her companion Okja-a, a massive "super pig," who she must keep from being slaughtered by a family-owned multinational conglomerate who has other plans for this tasty but intelligent creature. All ticket sales to A Voice For Animals (read more about them
here) and will be used to help improve the lives of rescued stray animals in Beijing. RMB 30. 8pm. Camera Stylo

The Hutong's 5th Annual Cookie Monster Charity Bake-Off
The Hutong and Lum Dim Sum co-host the fifth annual Cookie Monster Charity Bake Off this Sunday to indulge on the wares of some of Beijing's best bakers, all in the name of delicious cookies and supporting a local community charity. Fifteen cookie recipes have been pre-selected to compete in the event and will be vying for votes from you, the lucky eaters. Simply pay RMB 150 and feast on sample bites from all contenders as well as one cup of warm milk to wash them all down.
