PHOTOS: Spot Yourself at This Past Weekend's Hot & Spicy Fest
Tastebuds were blazing, faces were flushed, and plenty of other sizzling fun was had at the Beijinger's Inaugural Hot & Spicy Festival this past weekend. More than 10,000 people attended the Galaxy Soho event between Apr 14-15, buying up chili loaded wares and soothing cool drinks from 40 vendors. The capital's foodies clearly relished the chance to test their mettle against volcanic hot bursts of flavor, while also delving into cuisines from around the globe that aren't typically offered at outdoor festivals.
An eclectic array of entertainment — from enchanting bellydancing to beefy bodybuilding presentations, trap star hip-hop to traditional folk dances and more — also helped turn up the heat. The most showstopping moment on stage, however, was surely the surprise victory pulled off by the mysterious 8th Annual Hot Chili Pepper Eating contestant Liu Gang, aka Spicy Wolf, who ventured to Beijing from far off Shandong Province just to show off his shocking tolerence levels.
Now that you've acquired a taste for all things fiery thanks to the fest, be sure to check out the latest issue of our hot & spicy-themed magazine and more of our ongoing chili-related restaurant coverage so that you can maintain the tantilizing burn.
