theBeijinger 2018-10-18

Balmy summer evenings are back and YUN Summer Lounge has thrown open its doors just in time to enjoy glamorous sundowner drinks and post-dinner parties. Set on the 15th floor of The Peninsula Beijing, YUN Summer Lounge serves up stunning views over the Wangfujing area. Mediterranean sharing plates by executive chef Richard Glaze perfectly match the menu of classic and modern cocktails (from RMB 95) mixed by expert bartenders, red and white wines (from RMB 460) and premium Champagnes.

On weekdays, YUN Summer Lounge is the perfect spot for socializing and romantic sunset reunions. As the weekend approaches, YUN Summer Lounge transitions into a social hub, with interactive promotions and chill sets from international DJs from 7-10pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Each Friday, YUN Social features 20 percent discounts on a selection of sharing cocktails and cuisines, and the Saturday Sunset Zen promotion offers two-for-one cocktails as twilight draws near.  Every weekday before sunset, Sundeck Hours offers buy-two-get-one-free signature cocktails.

The mixology team at YUN Summer Lounge infuses Eastern ingredients and flavours into summer cocktails like the Asian Cup, a zesty fusion of Sipsmith London Gin, Aperol, lime juice, and East Imperial Ginger Ale, and Oriental Snow, a delicate blend of sparkling wine, Belvedere vodka, lychee liquor, and fresh lychee juice. Guests can also tailor their own drinks with a preferred fruit flavor. A sophisticated Daquiri can be custom-mixed with lime, watermelon or peach, and a classic Martini is served in lychee, apple or mango variations. Summer is for sharing and bespoke Asian Cup and Cosmo Ice cocktail jugs are specially prepared to order for groups of four to six people (RMB 480).

Mediterranean-inspired sharing plates created by executive chef Richard Glaze are designed for snacking high above Beijing with a loved one or group of friends. This season’s most sophisticated light bites include Wagyu sliders with wild mushroom, cheddar, and bacon (RMB 100), and Burrata with tomato, grilled focaccia, and leaves (RMB 100). For a little extra spice and crunch, perfectly fried Chicken wings are paired with crispy chili, celery, and peanuts (RMB 70).

The decor at YUN Summer Lounge fuses Chinese chic and contemporary minimalism in keeping with The Peninsula Beijing’s architectural philosophy. YUN Summer Lounge guests enjoy a prime location for admiring the traditional pagoda roof design of the original building, which was constructed in 1987, adorned with hand-carved sculptures of the five animals that historically symbolize the Chinese aristocracy.
