EAT: Jing Yaa Tang Turns Five, New Restaurant VGarden

Robynne T. theBeijinger 2018-10-18

The Opposite House's dim sum and duck restaurant Jing Yaa Tang recently turned five and to mark the occasion, they have introduced a special celebration menu of customer favorites from the past five years, as well as opportunities to win prizes for guests who dine there before Aug 31 via their golden duck lucky draw.

Jing Yaa Tang first opened its doors in 2013, and was quick to win over diners with its refined, reliable Peking duck and, in particular, unlimited dim sum lunch deal. The dishes on offer during their anniversary celebration include braised pork neck clay pot with ginger and garlic, chili soft shell crab with basil, and tieguanyin tea-smoked baby back ribs (pictured above).

Next up, Vintage Element Fresh in Taikooli, the new concept from the 16-year-old China-wide chain, has recently added a little extra incentive to try their expansive Western-style sharing menu rolled out daily at 5.30pm, in the form of daily deals. These include Monday's chicken special, when RMB 168 will get you half a grilled chicken, a glass of white wine, and a dessert (pictured above), or Wednesday steak nights, when you get a complimentary side dish and glass of red wine with every steak ordered. We've got our eye on Tuesday's sangria nights, which nets you a complimentary 1-liter jug of sangria for every two grilled main courses ordered.

Finally, Gongti has a new dining option in the form of VGarden, the new restaurant from the team behind VSports and occupying that venue's sunny back conservatory and patio. They're offering a three-course set menu which will change weekly and currently includes options like homemade goose liver pate with orange salad and pan-fried filet mignon with herb mushrooms and black pepper sauce (pictured above). From now until mid-September, book at least 24 hours in advance and pay just RMB 88 per person for the set menu (usually RMB 158).
