Ring In 2019 with Beijing's Top 10 New Year's Eve Parties
Before we count down to 2019, the Beijinger is running down our Top 10 New Years Eve Parties. Anyone perusing the events below should be able to find at least a few that suit their tastes and preferred location. From retro disco-themed parties, to craft beer and pub grub discounts, to elegant cocktail lounges, it's certainly an eclectic mix for NYE.
What more elegant backdrop could there be for NYE than the CBD skyline from the vantage of Beijing's highest bar? On top of that, Guomao cocktail lounge Atmosphere is also adopting a fun "stars in space" theme for the party, which should ensure plenty of fun costumes in the crowd and stellar song choices for the playlist.
At The Opposite House lounge Mesh, DJ JulianaLima will hit the decks with a range of disco classics for partygoers craving a retro vibe. Plenty of hot deals will abound, including unlimited bubbles, house wine, beer, and mixed drinks for RMB 488 per person
Popular Sanlitun Soho cocktail bar Red Dog's DJ will lay down one irresistible disco and funk classic after another to keep you moving all night. The bar's premium cocktails, along with a menu of Mediterranean food, will also be on hand for when you inevitably work up an appetite on the dancefloor.
Free glow in the dark accessories will be handed out to attendees at this pitch black party, making for a uniquely dazzling ambiance in the hutongs. All that, along with hourly deals from 9pm onward, free champagne at midnight and an upbeat soundtrack courtesy of DJ Peter Stone, will surely make Side Street chock-a-block on NYE.
Take a trip through music history with Lantern's era and genre-spanning Genesis party. The coordinators describe it as "an aural banquet with futuristic techno grooves from Beijing's best DJs." Among those talented DJs: Retro Electronic Group, Demone, Senders Chen and Watermelon.
As you button mash their retro games and mingle about the no doubt wall-to-wall crowd, Hatchery Arcade will also keep you properly buzzed with a few fantastic New Year's specials. RMB 50 will get you two glasses of mulled wine, for instance, while RMB 238 will upgrade you to two glasses of mulled wine plus two hours of free-flow beer and prosecco between 10pm to midnight. Or if you want to keep that booze flowing for longer, shell out RMB 338 to extend the deal all night.
For many a fashionable Beijinger, it wouldn't be New Year's Eve without hitting the dancefloor at Migas. The long-running nightlife and dining hotspot may have closed its pioneering Sanlitun location last year, but their newer CBD venue is equally glamorous. What's more: Migas will kick off this NYE with Tropicalismo, a party concept comprised of salsa, reggaeton, rumba, bachata, samba and more. It's an eclectic mix that will compel you to dance well into the wee hours of New Years Day.
This renowned Gongti nightclub will have a Willy Wonka wonderland theme for New Year's Eve. The club has also made a vague but intriguing pledge for the occasion: the party is "all-you-can-eat – otherwise, get in free!" We're not sure what the nightclub will have on the menu, but we can hear our stomachs growling already.
Mu "Dirty Dishes", a DJ known for her passionate hip-hop and R&B expertise, has organized her first ever Sugar House celebration. Aside from spinning 90s and 2000s R&B classics, the party will also be marked by its unique location in Gongti pub and grill VSports, where a glitzy glass-walled garden area has been underutilized. Mu sees this as the perfect occasion to wow the capital's partygoers with that hidden gem.
Popular brewery and restaurant Jing-A will hold a huge year-end bash chock full of hourly discounts on booze and bites all the way until midnight. Highlights include half priced burgers with the order of a beer from 6-7pm; buy two, get one free pints for the "Tis the saison" deal from 8-9pm and more.
