Poke Go: Your New Go-To For Healthy Bowls Near Chaoyang Park

Where once there was nary a poke option in the capital – despite the Hawaiian dish’s popularity abroad – now there are more of these healthy seafood bowls than you can poke a stick at (har har). The latest: Chaoyang Park-neighboring Poke Go, which comes hot on the heels of CBD newbie Poke U, and over a year after Sanlitun Soho’s Poke Inn. Clearly, originality in naming is not a strong suit among these establishments.

The good news is that Poke Go (located in the basement of the Central Park mall) easily bests its immediate competitors. For starters, it boasts more creative ingredient combinations than the comparatively bland Poke U. Take their "From the Ranch" bowl, for example; at RMB 68 for a medium or RMB 88 for a large it’s a bit pricey, but the large portion size, generous amount of meat, and a creative combo of sesame aioli, toasted seaweed, sliced ribeye, and even a sous-vide egg make it worth the extra spend.

Poke Go also has more bowl options than its competitors, including a tuna and salmon-loaded "Chef's Favorite" (RMB 68 for a medium or RMB 88 for a large), the "Crab Meat Volcano" (RMB 88 for a medium), the "Veggie Love" with fried tofu and kimchi (RMB 58 for a medium or RMB 68 for a large), and more. It’s also airy, bright, and colorfully decorated.

Even though Poke Go will cost you a prettier penny than its counterparts, the higher quality, bigger portions, improved creativity, and inviting ambiance are a welcome step up from what we've seen in the world of Beijing poke bowls so far.
