Burger Cup Round of Sweet 16 Ain't So Sweet for Everyone
Following last week's cull of over 80 burgers entering the Round of 32, you the people have dutifully voted once again to push your favorite burgers into the Sweet 16. Of course, wherever there are winners there are also losers and 16 of our big hopefuls have been tossed aside to lick their wounds after a hard-fought battle, recoup, and come back next year with more hype, more fans, and bigger buns.

Among the biggest losses this year is Cannon's Burgers, who after placing a huge #6 in 2018, has been ousted by newbie Crafters Brewing Co. The craft beer and cider company has been riding strong ever since opening their first brick and mortar venue near Sihui a couple of months back, and accrued many new fans via their Burger Fest buzz. The win puts Crafters as the only new seed to continue – can they go all the way?

Elsewhere, Miam Miam, the Groupe Flo-operated canteen-style restaurant in Sanyuanqiao's Galleria Mall, almost joined Crafters as the only other newbie in the next around, giving craft brewers Boxing Cat a run for their money. However, the Shanghai brewery dug its claws in and secured a well-earned place in the Sweet 16, where they'll need to fight hard to oust three-time reigning champions and new Dengshikou venue owners Slow Boat Brewery.
Finally, Hotel Jen's Beersmith, last year's #37 seed, has climbed way up the rankings to edge out the gourmet burger offerings of Taikoo Li's Hulu, but only just. They'll need even more support going head to head against heavyweights Great Leap Brewing, 2018's #2.
