Put together your best red, white, and blue outfit because it's time to celebrate the Fourth of July. Venues around town are marking the anniversary of American independence and whether you're 美国人 měiguó rén or not, you can join in all the fun with plenty of parties and events. The first event kicks off on Jul 3 (tomorrow), and you can find the most up-to-date list of Jul 4 events in our Events section here:

Jul 3: American-themed storytelling and meet up at 4corners

Head over to 4corners to listen to story-telling Americans talk about what they are (and aren't) proud of, and how they are different from other nations. The group is curious to hear your stories too, but you can also just join in to meet some new people, chit-chat, listen to stories, and enjoy a nice dinner (and maybe a shot of Fireball or four). Any good story from the US qualifies, but the stories can be of traveling Yankees or American products or even companies. Jul 4: 4th of July by Murrica

Popular WeChat-based community Murrica is at it again, putting on a Fourth of July party worth raving about to your friends. Riding the momentum of 2018's rambunctious Independence Day bash at Hooters, Murrica and co. have scoured Beijing for the next best sloppy location, this time settling on VSports in Gongti. Tickets are priced at RMB 150, which gets you a buffet, free-flow beer and house mixers, and two kegs sponsored by Lexington Kentucky Ale. Register via the QR code above.

Jul 4: 4th of July with Stevie Mac and The Mac Daddies at Home Plate

Get a star-spangled party vibe going, and celebrate Independence Day with Home Plate BBQ and Stevie Mac! There will be a guest appearance by all-male a cappella group 蛮Sing (Man Sing), as well as plenty of drink specials to wash down the homestyle comfort food. Live music kicks off at 9.30pm.

Jul 4: Quiz and Cookout at The Local

Join The Local for an Independence Day quiz and test your American knowledge! Trivia will take place upstairs from 8pm onwards (free entry but space is limited, add ID: localKenn on WeChat for bookings) and there will be an all-American cookout menu with hot dogs, black bean burgers, beef burgers, a Cajun shrimp boil, and other American classics available on the patio downstairs from 4-8pm.

Jul 4: American Independence Party at Boxing Cat

Boxing Cat is celebrating Jul 4 with a live band and plenty of fun games, as well as a special menu featuring their "All American Splatter Platter" for RMB 98, including smoked chicken wings, sausage, roasted barbecue ribs, grilled corn, old school potato salad, and a beer of your choice.

Jul 6: America's Backyard Barbecue by AmCham China at JW Marriott

Join AmCham at JW Marriott Beijing on Jul 6 as they celebrate American Independence Day. They'll be throwing an American-style backyard barbecue with food and drink, kids' activities, a live band, and a raffle with lots of fun trips and prizes up for grabs. Tickets are priced at RMB 550 for adults and RMB 250 for kids aged 5-14.

Jul 2-7: An American in Paris at Poly Theater

This breathtakingly beautiful Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the Oscar-winning MGM film, tells the impassioned story of discovering love in the 'City of Light.' Featuring the gorgeous music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin (including the classic hits "'S Wonderful" and "I Got Rhythm"), stunning designs, and show-stopping choreography, and makes for a nice non-boozy way to celebrate July 4th.
