Desperate to get out of town for Chinese New Year but left it a bit too late? Never fear, help may still be at hand. If you're not too picky about where you go, the 'Explore the World' function on the travel booking app Trip.com has got you covered.

To access the function, simply follow these steps:

  1. Download the Trip.com (EN) or Ctrip (CN) app from your preferred store

  2. Select 'Flights' from the app homepage

  3. Scroll down to the 'Explore the World' function

  4. Adjust the date and budget settings, and get exploring!

We've just done a quick scan of the available flight deals over the break, and there are still some pretty good options to be had, including, inexplicably, a Shanghai roundtrip by plane for RMB 974, which is actually cheaper than the standard train tickets.

Here are some fun (and relatively well priced) international getaways we found by toggling the dates over the CNY break:

Fri, Jan 24 - Mon, Jan 27 long weekend roundtrip from Beijing

Seoul, South Korea for RMB 2,063
Taipei, Taiwan for RMB 2,379
Busan, South Korea for RMB 2,642
Osaka, Japan for RMB 3,741
Manila, Philippines for RMB 2,762
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for RMB 3,075

Sun, Jan 26 - Wed, Jan 29 mid-Spring Festival week jaunt

Taipei, Taiwan for RMB 2,169
Phnom Penh, Cambodia for RMB 2,528
Vientiane, Laos for RMB 2,622
Macau, China for RMB 2,895

Of course, these dates are highly subject to change, but if you're in the mood for a quick escape and not too picky about where you go, the Explore my World can be a great way to save money and, well, explore your world a bit.
